It depends on your POE. California, Hawaii, and Florida have the most restrictions, since they are agriculture states, and don't want you to bring any creatures with you that might cause harm to local economy. The general rule on foodstuffs: Anything that is prepared, processed, or precooked, and in a sealed package is okay. If it requires refrigeration, or has a limited shelf life, it may not be allowed. If it was recently living, then likely no. If it is long dead, and hasn't spoiled yet, then it is probably okay.

Keep your receipts with you, so that you can give a fair value to customs for any items you may have to pay duty on. Otherwise, they may use the value of comparable items in the US that will probably cost more than in the RP. Things for personal or household use up to a certain dollar limit may be excempt from paying duty.

The wife didn't pay any duty when she came, and the packaged pastries she bought with her did not cause any concern.

For books, just watch your weight, so that you do not have to pay extra for excess baggage.

Hope that helps.

I brought some sweet deli with me jsut about 6pcs and pack it together with my clothes.I was asked at Houston if i brought goodies an i said no,my baggage went in to the x-ray not sure if they saw it and just didn't make it of much of a deal.Dried seafoods,i recommend-not to bring those unless you pack it really good and pack it with the rest of your stuff or u pack it separately and pay at the Customs.Fil goodies shouldn't be a big problem here if you live somewhere here that has a Fil store, coz here in Jacksonville,Fil store has pretty much of everthing that i will need.Books?hmmm..are they thick enough to exceed your baggage and pay more?Souvenirs?if their lil ones, pack them in one med size box with your name and US address, hand carry it put it in your over head storage-just make sure you dont forget it.Docs aside ,just put it in your lauggage nicely that it wont wrinkle but have your VISA packet- i brought with me an Over size bag where i put3 visa packets-mine and 2 kids and other folder containing docs that they might ask-some toiletries and lil things i think important for the trip esp travelling with kids.it all went for us and i wish you a happy, safe ,smooth trip...God Bless

LOVE IS PATIENT, LOVE IS KIND. IT DOES NOT ENVY, IT DOES NOT NOT BOAST, IT IS NOT PROUD. IT IS NOT RUDE, IT IS NOT SELF-SEEKING, IT IS NOT EASILY ANGERED, IT KEEPS NO RECORD OF WRONGS. LOVE DOES NOT DELIGHT IN EVIL BUT REJOICES WITH THE TRUTH. IT ALWAYS PROTECTS, ALWAYS TRUST, ALWAYS HOPES, ALWAYS PERSEVERSE. LOVE NEVER FAILS.

I dont think you need the receipts for those stuff, just declare that you will be using that for your wedding and as pasalubong..you can inquire at the airlines for more details or Airport authority plus it will discuss that matter to your CFO seminar..

by the way, What state are you heading? I'm here in Houston..PM me if there's anything I can help... Immigration personnel at IAH are not strict in luggages.

Have a safe trip..spend quality time with your fmaily while you are there..

Yeah, I rolled my x-ray film to fit inside my purse. But you know, no one ever looked at it since I left St Luke's. And right now, it's hanging on the side of my refrigerator. The reason you bring the receipts is in case there is any dispute on what those "pasalubong" and wedding giveaways are worth when you go to customs.
