I looked up the "rules" for a haiku and apparently you have to have a season included?

hmm, from Wikapedia:

"Haiku (俳句, haikai verse?) Haiku.ogg listen (help·info), plural haiku, is a form of Japanese poetry, consisting of 17 Japanese on (a phonetic unit identical to the mora), in three metrical phrases of 5, 7, and 5 on respectively[1], and typically containing a kigo, or seasonal reference. In Japanese, haiku are traditionally printed in a single vertical line, while haiku in English usually appear in three lines, to equate to the Japanese haiku's three metrical phrases[2]. Previously called hokku, it was given its current name by the Japanese writer Masaoka Shiki at the end of the 19th century."

So, to modify mine and make it correct . . .

Lives in upheaval,

I love Haiku's.

It is like texting (the old fashioned way). Selecting words carefully.

Thanks Sprailenes, for starting this 2008 haiku poetry thread! So far so good to all you VJers who have written poems in this message thread....very inspirational, indeed!

Hmm....let me take a crack at writing a poem too, as I describe "Ant's 2008" in Haiku. Hope you all like it!...

Ant's 2008

Beginning in Spring

Two years in the USA

Happily married

Gather Evidence

Time to Remove Conditions

During warm Summer

The leaves turn colour

In the crisp Autumn season

Our Baby is made

The cold Winter now

Waits for Green Card and Baby

Hoping for both soon
