How do you know when you may have a kidney infection? What are the symptoms? I hope you feel better soon.

ALL things work TOGETHER for GOOD!

If you don't recover quickly and have a pending trip you may want to go for quick medical opinion. Medical facilties in Africa tend to be at a totally different standard and they have a whole separate fee structure for Americans. My last "kidney infection" almost put me in the hospital for almost a week.

I agree. What sent me running back to the US while in Africa was a mysterious swelling of my whole face and glands. I looked like a bullfrog with a huge lump under my chin. I went to see a "French" doctor who was supposed to be in the top of her field. I had no tests done or anything and was sent home with a list of medicine to buy at the pharmacy. I went from pharmacy to pharmacy looking for the meds as some of the pharmacies didn't have the meds in stock. The worst part was the flight back home with a fever and a swollen face. Do you have one of those walk-in clinics that you can go to?

The longer it takes to introduce yourself the less you've actually accomplished

I have a tendency to develop infections, it's quite annoying actually!! Two years ago I got a staph infection in my lymph system so when ever my immune system is down I get infections. I ALWAYS travel with a 10 day supply with Leviquin (extremely powerful antibiotic). The cipro seems to be working I am much better this evening.

I also did purchase trip insurance so if it I do get worse in the next few days I can postpose my trip and get my money back.

I got some sad news today

my grandmother, my mothers mother, whom I admire, she is my inspiration to go back to school. She is sick. She is a brilliant woman, she would not tell us unless she knew it was serious. She told my mother...my mother has not told my sister, she told me first, I am stronger.

Sometimes I hate being strong.

I hope I can afford to go and see her, before she passes

I pray she lives long enough to see me graduate, or at least know that I did

NO matter what she has always believed in me

P please believe you will see your grandmother again before it's her time. You both are on my prayer list.
