Not attending but I did take the day off to watch ALL of the historic coverage.

I donated monies towards the cause. How wonderful it would of been if I was one of the few chosen to attend with all expense's paid.

Wish I could be off tomorrow to see it all, but I cleared space in the dvr and I plan on recording it. I'm so excited that the day of HISTORY is finally here. I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight just like I couldn't sleep on election eve.

LL you are correct. The point though is he knows what is being spent and yet has done nothing to cut back the spending. Is this the future attitude going to be also? As I said earlier, allowing excess in one instance will only lead to it being allowed in other areas. The lines become greyed.

The method Inauguration committee used to raise money for this event is the best I have ever seen in recent history for every American for the following reasons;

a) Lobbyists and special interests were not given the chance to fund it as was the case in 2004, hence they will have very less influence in his government

b)The maximum donation one can make was also lowered ie In 2004,private individuals and organizations made donations upto 250k but in Obamas case, the cap was set at 50k

c)You can google it online and see the people that paid for this and how much they all paid

d)Obama did not make use of taxpayers money in his election and in his inaguration too, ordinary people like me and you are also funding it so that special interests will be dissapointed

e)Finally Obama is a person of color and we are on the verge of history,people from all over the world are in DC to be part of this, hence the security, medical, shelter demands will be so high, and also to combat this, the government are forced to protect me and you in DC so that we can have a safe transfer of power.

f)Since this election, how so many threats have been made over the internet regarding the safety of his life, because of this, his security details are also high

g)Finally, Obama has no control over the number of people that will be in DC, and moreover it will be a big insult to the US if anything regarding security and safety goes bad.

g)please allow us to enjoy this day, this story does not happen everyday, it is a once in a lifetime event which is only possible in my beloved country, the US.

yada yada yada Just a bunch of whining losers. Let's have a real discussion later on, when we see what he does or doesn't do for this country.

In the meantime, the next time someone who is proud of you and wants to honor your accomplishments offers to throw you a party to celebrate, maybe you should refuse and donate the money to save the world. And be sure to tell your boss not to spend too much on your raise or bonus, and don't forget to give your friends and family a spending limit on gifts they buy for you. Afterall, you control what others spend on you...right? Better yet...let's all move into grass huts, give up all our material things, and live in poverty...We are only perpetuating the necessity to "over spend" by contributing to our commercial society. Supply and demand..right?

Opportunities, freedoms, and daily comforts are a priviledge, not a right. And as everything else in our current society, has a price tag, and a certain "price to pay". Let the man get in office, and if he doesn't make things better, in some way, shape or form...then one of ya'll can run for president if you think you can do better!

A good friend of mine has been out of the country for the last 8 years, could not stand to deal with Bush.

All this complaining about money money money, if the government sent you a check for $1000.00 today, would you give it back, or keep it? B)

We are all suffering as a result of the mismanagement of this country, give Obama the chance to do the job that he was elected to do.

I realize this breakdown means 80% is for my benefit but then again I'll have something to show for how I spent it other than confetti and deflated balloons.

The entire world is in economic turmoil and campaigners led by Obama decide to throw a HUGE party. Come on now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that PRIORITIES are OUT OF WHACK!!!!

This also has NOTHING to do with who won or who lost - at least for me. If McCain were to spend this much I'd be JUST as vocal.

I will respect and honor the office of the president. He is my president and I will abide by his decisions, because the King of the Universe has placed Obama in power for this time in history. I am His subject and He requires me to live under who He places in authority.

Here's a question - if the choice were $150 MILLION on a party or $150 MILLION into the USCIS system to streamline the process, hire more personnel, and require more training. Honestly, which would y'all choose.

All I am trying to say is there are BETTER ways to spend that kinda money. Even before he becomes president he is showing that his campaign was just that - a campaign.

Well, hopefully now that there is a new president, we can stop borrowing money from China and stop spending ten billion dollars a month on a war in Iraq, the war has cost us taxpayers over $600 billion since 2003 ......hopefully then our economy will improve. Please just put this to rest, Obama has no control of the inauguration money and how it was spent...and maybe if he did, then he would of put it towards the economy...who knows. I believe that Obama wants what is best for this country and he wants to make alot of changes and get things back in order. Right now, we are facing some difficult times in our economy....wait until Obama is officially sworn in....and give him a chance. What you are saying is "even though he is not president right now, he should use all of the monies that was raised for the inauguration towards the economy", that does not really make sense and like I said, he has no say what so ever on how the money should be spent...it is out of his hands...it is a committee that makes all of the decisions.
