cute pics by the way..............

Thanks!

Maybe you did not have enough antifreeze something must have frozen and busted the temp. I am thinking. Good thing this is a visa forum, because I do not want to get harrased for giving mechanical advice. LOL

Thanks for the advice.....I won't harrass you for it. It's been giving me problems for awhile, but this cold has made it worse. The mechanic said the cold made it worse cuz it has to work all that much harder to run. I did think about the antifreeze first, but no go.............I may be taking the bus to work?? LOL......God I hope not!!

My husband's brother arrived yesterday in Chicago on a student visa. He's very excited, but I think he's quite shell shocked too............doesn't really know anybody, but I'm sure he'll adjust.

frozen "antifreeze" will do it, a stuck thermostat will do it. both prevent the circulation of the water.

here's an odd one for you but it works - if your car is overheating in the summer, turn on your heater. that will help cool the engine some and it adds water from the heater core into the overall mix.

I can attest to this working because my moms car overheats if it is in traffic so whenever she comes upon traffic (don't have much here on the island) she has to blast the heaters.

I have an exciting day planned - mucking out the barn! Well not the whole barn, just enough to fill my truck and take to someone - at least they are paying me.

So sorry to hear about your car. Only by the grace of God mine is still running. My car broke down this September, so I had to get another one. I do not like car payments so i usually pay cash. Well no cash no car. I was going shopping to buy one with a loan and i decided that I will go without a car. Now if you live in Maine, you will now that there is not many resources for mass transit. I had faith that something would happen for me so I did not have to have a car payment.

That day my neighbor heard my story and told me he could get me a car for $600. 1997 Pontiac sunfire in great condition. Because he buys and fixes (flips) cars, I trusted his opinion. It is an amazing little car. It has just needed an alternator, which my mechanic put in for just $20 and part cost. WOW Yes God is great!

I am not a car person. As long as it is safe and reliable, I am pleased. Now we are looking for a great price on a mini van for a large family.

Morning :)

If I lived near you, I would come and help you. I love outside manual labor. We just discovered a nonprofit organic farm that does a lot of community outreach and education around planting organic. My son, his friend and I did some work to close up the farm. I am the kids loved the work. Great experience that I look forward to doing more this spring.

I don't like car payments either..........paid mine off over a year ago. This car has done my family very well and I cannot complain. This really is the first major repair I've had to do and its a 2001 (chevy venture minivan). Its just not at a very good time right now. Its January and I'm trying to catch up on the bills I put off last month for christmas......you know how it is. Anyway, I just need to figure out a way to pay for it NOW. I will get my income tax refund back in February, but that doesn't really help me now does it?? I wish I could do without a car, but with four children that's somewhat difficult. Tonight I am using my sister's car to work a night shift (to make up for missing work on Friday). My car won't be fixed till Monday or Tuesday so I'll need to figure out what to do about getting to work on those days. Just alot to deal with right now. Thanks for your concern......I really do appreciate it.
