Hubby made pepper soup last evening.......it was so hot, it set my insides on fire!!!!!! It was my first time having it and I will not  have anymore of that unless he can make it with less peppers.

My husband made some a while ago. He had made it so hot that neither of us could eat it

I don't do hot foods well and Joseph laughed at how I acted as if he had given me poison. He would even tell me if the dishes had "poison" in them when we ate out. We got more than one strange look from that.

Two years ago we went to this chop shop for lunch and I had one spoonful (took them 15 minutes to find me a spoon) and I had to be just about carried outside. I was choking and tears were streaming down my face. Bassi and his cousin carried me outside for "fresh air", but I think I was embarrassing them. I went hungry that day. I couldn't taste anything anymore anyway!

hey y'all is this an authentic recipe for Peppa-soup?

What you need

  • two pounds goat meat, lamb or mutton (beef for stew can also be used); cut into bite-sized pieces
  • one or two onions, quartered
  • two or three hot chile peppers, cleaned and chopped
  • peppersoup seasoning (see below)
  • four cups meat broth or stock
  • two tablespoons ground dried shrimp
  • one small bunch fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • one tablespoon fresh or dried utazi leaves (or bitterleaf) (see below)
  • salt and black pepper to taste
and if so, what is "utazi?"

p.s. I got this from the congocook book

LOL, Sylvia only you would pin point the "see below" hahahahahaa :rofl:

anywho, your observation made me do a double take.

I had no idea what you were referring to, until I read it w-o-r-d for w-o-r-d.

I negated that portion, I think is said something about substituting for any other "bitter" green
