We stay home and sit under a steel cover :P You know the crazies and guns in southern California

Seeing as you are in California, I think this is an excellent idea

One of the managers at our data center used to walk the roof of the data center after New Year's eve and would find enough spent bullets to fill a pickle jar

Are you joking?

Where is this?

No, I am not joking, it is in Santa Ana Calif.

We're staying home as well - no need for big parties for us, although we did consider going to an Atlanta Symphony performance - we may still. Otherwise we will be listening to the fireworks and the gunfire going off at midnight. Two years ago someone was firing a semi-automatic in the neighbourhood. Illegal? absolutely! Frightening? You bet , knowing we had such irresponsible and reckless neighbours. I'm hoping they moved - there was no semi-automatics last year - just regular guns. Yep, it's Georgia.

Oh, a joke I heard for New Year's . . . Do you know why they shoot off guns at midnight in New York City on New Year's Eve? Because Fireworks are illegal.

Happy New Year one and all and may your visa journeys be quick and smooth.

Hi Everyone,

:star: Happy New Year 2009, Everyone!!! :star: May your New Year be a happy and healthy one, indeed!

As for my new year plans, I'll probably be celebrating with my husband at home, making our New Year's resolutions (lol..which I probably won't keep anyways) and eating our leftover holiday foods and (non-alcoholic) drinks.

Lol...I guess I can forget about the "weight loss" resolution this year, as I have to "gain weight" 20-30 lbs for 2009!

Though I'll most likely be asleep before then (I've been feeling a lot more tired lately), and by the time I wake up it will be probably be 2009 already! Scary....

As well, for 2009, I hope to have the following issues "resolved":

-Get my 10yr Green Card in July 2009, that I've been waiting since August 2008 for!

-Have a healthy and happy Baby in July 2009!

-Apply for the N-400 US Citizenship in August 2009, and hope to get afterwards in 2010.

By the way, what are your New Year's Resolutions? And what do hope to have "resolved" in 2009?

All the best in the New Year! Good luck on the rest of your immigration journeys too.

We are headed to Los Angeles....already got a hotel room lined up... Well actually, it's me, my hubby and his mom. He brought his mom and I grandstand tickets near the start of the parade for the New Years Day, Tournament of Roses "Rose Parade".(xmas Presents) And becasue it starts at 8am,..and you have to be there an hour before it starts, we decided to stay overnight,..as we live 2.5 hours away from L.A. Hubby is not going to the parade,.., he's driving us down there, having dinner with us, and we will celebrate the new year quietly sipping on a few coldies..and he's gunna chill in the hotel room while the parade is on. He didn't wanna do anything big,..just wanted to spend the evening with us,..as the last 2 NYE's he has been in Iraq,..so this will be a nice quiet, comfortable change for him,..

Resolutions are lame! They are easy ways to start the year off with feelings of disappointment and failure. :P

Only one way to go from there.

My boyfriend & I are planning on going to his co-worker's place, here in Michigan. I've been in MI since the 27th & going back home on Sunday.

I hope everyone has a safe & happy New Year's. 2008 was a great year for me. I'm sure it was a year of major change for a lot of people on VJ. I'm hoping to experience what you all went/going through, next year in '09.

Have a good one, be safe.

We will play bridge with our friends and eat the black-eyed beans and corn bread that are a tradition for my husband. I may eat a double serving this year, as they are eaten for good luck. I was so hoping that my NOA2 would have arrived before I returned to Canada, as it is like 4 months now :( Oh well, we are closer than we were at this time last year.

Happy New Years everyone,

Hi Everybody!!! We've been so busy with family and friends so I haven't been able to check the boards that often.

To start off tonight (in about 3 hours) my sister and her fiance are getting married at the North York Civil Ceremony, with an informal reception party at her house after. I think were heading to my old apartment for the after party :D

We started out the afternoon by going to Jack Astors for some Pan Bread....mmmmmmmmmmmm Man I love that stuff!

I hope everybody has a fantastic time no matter where they are. Don't forget to be safe and I'll see you all in 2009!
