Ok I just have to say right now that if Nawal is moving to NYC May 09 and Patti will be there and Dorothy and Ash I may have to trek it across North America U.S. of A. and fly one way out of NYC to meetcha all! That would be totally bypassing the usual Seattle route.

Oh and STAR! HL YEAH!

:dance::dance: YAY!!! :dance::dance:

If we planned it good enough Olivia....heck I would try and meet up with you guys!! Maybe see if Melinda will meet us too! I've never been to NYC!

I've never been to NYC either. Mom was looking at ridiculously cheap cruises going from San Juan Puerto Rico to NYC right when I finish school. I guess it overlaps with some of my finals so we aren't going on that but it was one way to get there for sure. I may take a bus there or I may take a flight there if everyone is really going to meet up. I like that there are flights there that fly directly to Cairo from NYC.

Check out Atlantic Ave. in Brooklyn if/when you come here - I have not been there yet but I hear there are tons of MENA/Islamic shops - probably a good place to find spices, books, Islamic dress etc. I usually go to 74th St. and Roosevelt Ave., Jackson Heights, Queens which is S. Asian - lots of Islamic shops here too and better/cheaper desi food than you find in Manhattan.

Hey Dolma,

You need to give me some recommendations on these restaurants - I live few blocks from 74th/Roosevelt Ave. and since I buy halal meat at the Trade Fair on 37th Ave. I am in that area few times a week. Maybe one day we can get together for some desi food - I need an expert to guide me thru the experience.

D

Sounds like fun - I usually go to the Indian veggie places like Maharaja Sweets(near Trade Fair on 37th Ave, I think across the street) - they have a great buffet - or that 'Nepali Fast Food' place near the subway for one thing only(spicy potato curry or 'piro alu'). The hole in the wall down the street towards 37th Ave(Delhi Sweets?) has yummy kachori. My friend and I ate at the Afghani place on the corner once - very good food and friendly people.

Don't cry. Probably what I'm gonna do is fly Pullman to Seattle and then Seattle to NYC. Stay the night over in Seattle. And stay the night over in NYC so I can meet everyone. Then I'll take the direct flight from NYC to Cairo on the new Delta service. At least that is what I'm looking at right now.

Ok it's getting closer to when I can buy my tickets. Looks like I'm flying Delta all the way. Right now I'm looking at flying to Seattle for the night of May 20th. Then fly out the 21st to NYC and stay the night there and fly out May 22nd direct from NYC to Cairo.

The return flight is the same only in August. I am thinking on the return flight to call my former sister in law who lives in Brooklyn and spend some time in NYC with her waiting for Waleed's flight to come in if he gets his visa.
