Are there degrees of say Capricorn, like being born say January 4 right in the dead center of that span as opposed to being born on January 20th? Just a few hours away from slipping into the Aquarius class.

Just doesn't seem like you can switch from one characteristic to another in the span of an instant, like being born at 11:59:59 PM on the 20th as opposed to being born at 12:00:01 AM on the 21st. Also is this only true for the Northern hemisphere? What if your mate was born in the Souther Hemisphere where the seasons are reversed?
