hmmm 6000 rockets but less than 20 israelis killed ... wow it looks like they were sure out to do harm huh... compared to the 330 confirmed dead in the mass hysteria israel is currently causing in Gaza right now and over 1500 injured with over 300 in critical condition ......IN 1 WEEK.... I think it stands to show that one is after blood while the other just wants its ppl to have food and basic necesseties....but thats just mho..who am i....

were someone to shoot 6000 rounds at you, you'd eventually retaliate too.

amal's not the type to starve people and deny them access to medical care so I don't think she'll be worrying about people shooting rockets at her anytime soon. ;)

tsk tsk didn't you know that if you criticize what Israel does you're automatically anti-semitic? I just don't get that though since three of my jewish friends here are just as peeved at Israel as I am...does that mean they're anti-semitic?

Then again maybe my sarcasm filter isn't working and Charles was attempting to make a joke again.

The Palestinians (Hamas)have fired 6,000 rockets at Israel in the last 3 years. Israel has a right to defend itself. Although innocent civilians are killed by Israeli bombs, they are not the intended target. You cant say that for Hamas, they fire their rockets at civilians. Hamas is responsible for the deaths of innocent Palestinians IMO. There will never be peace in Palestine since the people there support the actions of Hamas.

in the "6,000 rockets" fired how many were killed? there is defending it's self then there is genocide don't you think?

I don't think tsup2 thinks.

I think she does, very logically. Support for Gaza is not support for Hammas in my opinion. I stand with Palestine, but I wouldn't stand any where near Hammas, cold day in hell, definitely.

"Today, as Hamas rules Gaza, elected and supported by the local population, it is in fact like a country of their own with their own government and military force. As between any two countries, if one attacks the other then you must expect a reaction."

"If Hamas really cared about their people, it would make sure people aren't hurt. But they don't care. They use people as protection for their own military terrorism - they use kindergartens and houses and send terror attacks out of civilian areas, which endangers their own people."

http://english.aljazeera.net/focus/2008/12...2541872883.html

Avi Bitton, 51, Sderot Israel

"We are two families sitting here in the same home with five small children and every five minutes we have to run to the shelter inside our house.

The paradox is that when the army planes fly over us to attack them, we are frightened and enter into a panic, too. We have taken a tough hit for eight years.

People who don't live in Sderot don't understand the situation here, just as those who don't live in Gaza don't understand their situation. But I know they suffer and I know we suffer as well.

At the end of the day there will be an agreement, so why do we have to go through this process of killing and shedding blood first? Why can't we stop? Why do we need for them to suffer so terribly, and I have no doubt that they are suffering more than us.

We in Sderot are so sick of this and they must be saying the same thing. I am totally against these attacks on Gaza. I live here and I try to talk to the other side, to find some sort of contact.

We had five months of truce, but instead of using the opportunity to solve the problem, each side went and stockpiled weapons. There is a total lack of belief on both sides and it's depressing, the feeling that we only prepare for war.

What will come of these attacks? Nothing! Maybe the outside world will start to demand peace. But if we go to a ground attack it will mean great suffering for both sides, for a long time. We will only end up hating each other more. A mother whose child has just died in the attacks will feel hate for the other side. And attacks like this always strengthen the extremists, maybe not Hamas but other groups who are extreme.

If we stop today, now, there is some chance that we can start believing in each other again."

Dan, 30, Jerusalem

"I don't support any act of violence whatsoever but on the other hand I do support a strong military response when the other side doesn't understand anything but violence.

"Every time we try to normalize the situation, Hamas decides to show their nation how strong they are and how they can attack the Israelis over the border"

I am not saying Israel is a saint. We have done our share of bad deeds but we are trying to move forward to better times.

If Hamas stops arming itself for the sole purpose of destroying Israel, if Gilad Shalit is returned to his house after almost four years, if rule is returned to the Palestinian Authority, if all kinds of attacks on Israel are stopped, Israel will not only cancel any future ground incursion, they will also open the passages and revive the economic center on the border to supply Palestinians with work.

They should think wisely. I think enough Palestinian and Israeli blood has been spilled. Both nations are hurt from the ongoing situation. I don't want to see Israeli soldiers die in vain when eventually we will leave Gaza again - you see it is an ongoing cycle and Hamas can stop it."

hey now...blows below the belt are not nice. ;) I have nothing against jews. If it was really 6000 rockets shot...I can see where Israel might be a little bit miffed. I also feel, though, that Israel should have stopped before it gained the title of a killing spree. I know I'd be totally hot headed if the borders to my country were completely closed off for an extended period of time where I couldn't get food, had no electric or water, or medicine and when my ppl were massacred at the borders during a cease fire..... ok..I can't get in to it. It's ok for all ppl to develop their own opinions and I hold no bad feelings towards anyone who disagrees with what I feel is right. I just wish it would all stop and ppl would stop fighting over there. Senseless murders are always unacceptable imho.

Too, too true - they use their own people/human infrastructure like schools etc as human shields. So that inevitably, Israel when they actually hit a target, hits a target plus Gazan citizenry, thus everyone looks at Israel, like "how dare they???"

You got it. Imagine 4 apartment buildings facing each other and the small square of an area of grass/land what have you in the middle : Hammas runs in and fires from this area, so Israel sends 'smart' bombs to that exact location where the firing came from and destroys the center and the fronts of one or two of the apartment buildings are damaged / destroyed. It's awful that civilian life is lost, but just imagine if they fired rockets like Hammas does, the entire area would be leveled. It doesn't come out right, sending a rocket or strike is not "lucky" but in the same way theirs are accurately hitting the targets. Where does the blame fall that Hammas chose to launch from the middle of civilian apartment buildings? I don't get that part, never will.

When has anyone on this forum ever mentioned the phrase "evil jews"? Are you thinking of a different forum? How on earth could anyone blame an entire religion because of the act of one particular country?
