Well said and I agree with your comments. There's unmentionable acts in all parts of the world. One thing that many people refuse to talk about is the US itself. I have never know any other country, except the US that runs so many scams on it own citizens and let alone oppress or have oppressed every race under the sun.

If you read the historical posts here you will find a lot of traffic on marriages that don't last long. There seems to be more from Nigeria that fall apart than from the UK. Why, because of cultural differences most likely. The original poster you are referring to is looking for some information. Going into a relationship if you know what has posed problems for others you have insight into what can happen in your relationship. That insight may give you the ability to correct something before it goes from being an issue to being a problem. There are bad stories about Nigeria all over the net. Partly because more bad Nigerians have access to the net it seems than good ones. I just returned from there and met hundreds of wonderful people. I bet only 2-3 have internet access. What most people here know of Nigeria revolves around the 419 and romance scams because that is the type of Nigerian they here of. I don't think anyone goes into a relationship knowing they are dealing with a scammer and because of the restrictions in traveling many that are in love with a Nigerian have a limited experience really living together. There are huge differences in culture and it takes give and take on both parts to settle to a merged culture. Some couples manage to do this, some never can. To travel from your homeland to live in another place takes a lot of courage and trust. But it can be traumatic. A new culture, possibly really living together for the first time. I think the OP is trying to find hints to make this process easier not bashing Nigeria.

Peace

Sylvia

I'd just like to also bring to your attention that the name of this room covers that

part of the world and this room is for sharing your experiences, I for one am a

victim of a marriage scam; and my ex-husband was a professional doctor in Nigeria.

I'm not willing to down play or lie about my experience with my ex-husband from Nigeria.

Appropiately I post here. I'm sure there are boards to talk about the U.S. But

here we are to tell our experience's concerning Saharan surrounding areas.

I'm just hoping that everyone that falls victim to a marriage scam be it any country

loudly alert the proper channels and fight for justice to be served.

Thanks Sylvia for trying to clarify the meaning of my original post. I had no idea someone would take what I said the wrong way. I was in NO way trying to "bash" Nigeria in any way. In fact I have taken offense to some of the posts on here before due to the fact that my husband and his family are from there. I have traveled there three times and have met some very loving and wonderful people. My original intention was to do what you said (Sylvia) to gain some knowlege to make this process easier for both myself and my husband. So again Galaxy I apologize for upsetting you and you misunderstanding what I was trying to say.
