My Fiance (now my wife as of Dec 6...) went to Bogota with her 15 yr old daughter for the K1 visa interview back in October of 08. They gave her and her daughter visas. My wife came right away and we got married recently. The daughter is still in Colombia and we are planning to have her come in August of this year.... however..... The daughter's visa expires after 6 months, some time in April of 09. Shouldn't that be a one year expiration? can we get it extended another 6 months? Thanks so much for any help... also... thanks to this website and all participants for the great info... I did it all myself, no lawyer, because of this site!

possibly but that is totally at the discretion of the consulate..... you could have waited on the issuance of the K-2 until you were ready... but that is water over the bridge now...

YMMV

At this point the best you can do is contact the Consulate and ask for an extension but I wouldn't count on a yes. Six months is the correct validity period for the visa once issued.

OK, so if we do not use the daughter's visa and it expires, we have to start over with her visa from scratch?
