So I just want to know kinda how this all works and if any of my info is incorrect please let me know.

So I wanted to see how things work. We have our k-1 appt in March of next year, if approved we plan to marry in april. We then file the AOS packet and wait. 1st step is usually the biometrics appt, then last our actual aos interview. After that he will be a permanant resident wth a green card, what does this exactly mean? How soon can he file for citizenship? Can he travel outside the country for a few weeks to visit family on a green card? Is there some step I am missing, and how soon does the permit to work arrive after filing the AOS, or it doesn't arrive until he gets a green card? Thanks for any and all answers, I really appreciate it.

After his AOS is approved he will get a 2 year conditional Greencard and on that green card he can travel outside US. Based on his marriage to a USC (you) he can apply for citizenship upto 90 days before your 3rd anniversary. Before Citizenship, he will be applying for removal of conditions though.

Read the Guides and you will get detailed information on each step.

9 months for greencard to arrive?

Is there policy which states the card must arrive within that window of time?

Nope. No policy that I'm aware of, as you full well know. Snarky isn't necessary, just point out that I should have added "can be longer." Surely if someone posts a response that isn't as detailed as it should have been, a comment to that effect could be added as a supportive measure. I follow up read posts that I've replied to and make mental notes if there's something I've said that was added on for future posts.

Respectfully,

Tish

Eligibility to apply for citizenship has nothing to do with the wedding anniversary date, but with the anniversary date that the conditional green card was approved.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

It wasn't snarky and I apologize if it came across that way. It was a question - I know you follow up so I knew you would see it.

VJ history - there used to be a consortium of post leaders here who would try to 'teach' each other using questions rather than 'spoon-fed' answers. It seemed to work well - at the time.

If that's the Socratic method, then Socrates must have died from an overdose of Wedlock.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

I took a look at your timeline and it shows that you are already married (April, 2008) If you are already legally married and have filed for a K-1 then you have filed for the wrong Visa and need to file for a K-3 instead. This will take a lot longer than a K-1, plus you'll virtually have to start over.

I think they put in the wrong date, I think they mean April 2009. I say that based on this:
