i guess people are getting confused with the poll. i didn't ask if i should buy furniture for the baby, i asked which one do you like the best.

as for the negative comments, if i was afraid the baby would vomit and damage everything and decided not to buy furniture, he would find someplace else to do so, right? should i go ahead and sell everything we owe because of that and only have cardboxes in the house? seriously it's 1 baby with parents that are always home when we're not at work and the baby is not home when we're at work, not 7 babies with negligent parents.

I picked #3 first, and my second choice is #2 because I love Mission style furniture... that's what we have in our house.

The poster who talks about having puke, poop, etc. all over the furniture is completely right.... it WILL happen.... it did several times with all 3 of my children.... but as long as you clean it up right away, it's as good as new again!!!! When my 2 sons shared a room when they got older, they had bunk beds, and the one on the top bunk puked one night and it was all over his own upper bunk, it ran all down the sides of the bunk beds, and ended up landing on my son below!!! Now, that WAS gross!!!!!

But, if you want to have children, you will inevitably spend a lot of time cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. But.... I lived in the same house for 17 years while my 3 children were growing up, and when we put that home on the market, the realtor put "immaculate home" to describe it. My kids were NOT allowed to play in our living room or dining room, because we had a big family room, they had their bedrooms, and we had a back yard, so we wanted to keep at least one part of the house nice and tidy for when we entertained. It worked out very well that way.

Imagine it all covered in vomit. Imagine in 1-2 years when your child finds that permanent marker under the couch you forgot about. Imagine it covered in poop by same aged child that discovers the magic in his diaper. Imagine your child finding a small screwdriver and thinks of becoming a woodworker.

I have to say, buying new is a waste of money, but I am cheap and know that kids live to destroy everything nice you might possess. It is an instinct, I swear.

pretty much why my idea of baby room decorating involves plastic sheets everywhere :hehe:

Take the top off this new style bed and line with blankets and stuff.

Advantages:

Easy to move, clean, and won't get damaged by the little guy.

Should be good for 9 months service as a bed at which time you take possession for other uses and buy the next size larger for the little guy.

btw ... it's a lot less expensive than other types of bed furniture :P
