Since most of the malls have big discounts now...bumili na ako ng bagong suitcase in preparation for my trip. Masyadong excited

Kayo, kelan kayo nag-start mag-pack ng luggage nyo?

:)

I won't be using a suitcase. hehehe. Just balikbayan boxes to minimize the weight caused by the suitcase. At least with the balikbayan boxes, you can put more stuff in it. my husband always brings balikbayan boxes whenever he comes home to visit me. He never owned a suitcase! hehehe. although it's nice to own a sturdy suitcase for vacations/ short trips... still haven't packed yet since my interview is 3 weeks from now. Just making a list on what i will bring with me...on what i will have to ship over (like college books for my profession) aaaaaaggghhh, I just resigned from work since i think i need time to prepare for my relocation to the US...so i have the whole month to think about it. hehehe. no rush no rush

Best regards,

Ynatots

Goodluck on your interview. Balikbayan boxes are really good. And I think that making a list of the things you will bring is a great idea. Gagawa na rin ako ng aking listahan..hehe.

the day i got my visa was the day we started preparing things etc... it was jan 3 of 07 my hubby bought a ticket that day for jan 27th flight... i think mga two weeks ata before my flight eh i bought a luggage (may sale sa SM ata yun)... isang bagahe lng hindi masyadong kalahikan... i think 98% of what i brought from phil (almost 2 yrs ago), eh hindi ko na ginagamit ngayon. kasi medyo tumaba ako. from 87-90 lbs eh naging 100-103 na ako ngayon hehehe... anyways good luck sayo and happy trip!!! its hard to pack last minute...i am still waiting for the approval or noa2 but i already packed 1 luggage. my brother flew to NJ a couple of weeks ago for a business trip and i asked him to bring 1 suitcase of my clothes hahaha i guess i am the earliest person from VJ who packed her stuff. I just asked my fiance to pick it up there and he drove about 4 hours to get my luggage. i guess during my flight i will also be bringing in 4 bags and will just pay extra coz i want to bring almost all my stuff with me.

i even packed a karaoke machine in my luggage so that if i get bored i will just sing my heart out while waiting for my SO to get home from work lol :star:

My fiance's suggestion para sa mga gamit ko, "as soon as I get the visa, i-send ko daw in advance yong mga gamit ko". Hahahahaha..... dami ko kasing abubot. Sa tuwing may bago kasi akong things, lagi ko pinapakita sa kanya on webcam kaya siguro naisip nya na baka mag-exceed ako ng 20 kilos sa baggage. Hahahahaha....

So, after i get my visa, i might send him my things through DHL or UPS in a balikbayan box. Any suggestion kung aling murang courier ang okay? Here's what I'm going to put in a balikbayan box.

- Favorite bags and shoes

- Couple of books and other references

- Jeans and jackets

- Stuff toys and art works

- Some other clothing

- Favorite cd's

Seems..... maglalayas na talaga ako noh.... Hahahahaha....

I might start packing my things, a week before my flight. Then, I will start doing shopping a week before I start packing my things.

In my case I started packing when I bought my suitcase, it was 2 days after my visa approved. Until now, I am still packing ksi 2 address ko meron sa city at meron dito sa province which is my permanent residence. Now I am here in the province and started packing again for my 2nd luggage that I am going to bring when I left on the 5th of Feb. I hope I won`t forget something. How I wish I can bring all my stuff pero di pwede ksi mahal bayad sa excess, so what I did was I really chose my favorite things. I bought a bathroom weighing scale sa Japan Home to make sure di over sa required luggage allowance. Better purchase one than to pay excess baggage. Happy trip sa mga aalis ahead of me. God bless!

Well, I intend to start packing soon as I get the jumbo box I ordered from manila forwarders. They sent me a box alright, this afternoon too. Kaya lang, they sent the wrong size!

By packing, I mean segregating which to bring on the flight with me and which to send ahead via courier. I would so love to bring all that I want to (and that applies to my daughter too), but it is virtually impossible. My daughter is taking 2 luggages for herself, whereas I am taking one luggage and one balikbayan box. The thing about balikbayan boxes is that although it is lighter, it would be hard to pack it in such a way na di magugulo gamit mo maski itapon-tapon ng mga baggage handlers and not exceed the 23kg weight limit. My daughter is just 6 years-old so that her clothes are much smaller and lighter....and her Daddy already has clothes waiting for her in her drawers in Ohio. So, whatever space she will have left over, Mommy will take :D

I must have my iron kawali and kaldero....! Very good for extra-sauteing good ol' adobo in extra garlic, eh?

Wow...I can feel the excitement already.

We are still waiting for our physical file to arrive at the embassy.Hopefully, we can get an appointment this week...but my new suitcase is half-full already.

My pangga wants me to bring everything I may need..haha. We'll just have to pay the excess baggage. He is also excited about us doing our shopping together once I arrive there.

As the days go by...I am having mixed emotions. Anxious to get over the process...Thankful that everything is happening smoothly and Excited to be with him again.

For the ones who will be travelling soon - Enjoy packing and Happy Trip !!!

Make a list of what you should bring so you will not forget anything.
