Finally NOA came and check cashed

Remember about less than two weeks ago I posted:

I sent my I-751 on 11/28/08 and it was delivered on 12/01/08 according to my US postal track & confirm record. Until now I receive no NOA and my check is not cashed yet. I called them and was told that to call back only after 30 days not receiving the NOA. Only at that time they'll start looking at the matter. Why this late and what's going on? Is this normal? And so what do I do now, is there any alternative(s) or nothing can be done for the moment?

Yesterday came the NOA, dated 12/20/08, and the receipt date is 12/02/08. Then I've found out my check was cashed on the 23rd. So it looks like that my file is OK although it took longer than usual for them to get it through? Possibly they had found something they thought a potential red flag, then finally it was cleared up? Or the presentation of my package wasn't good enough or the content of it was too much then either of that or both of them caused them a hard time looking at  ? I don't know but I'm pretty sure that overall it was OK, though a little bit sloppy, and those sloppy spots found on the cover letter only, I think.

Congratulations. I suspect that the only real reason for the delay is that they were busy and possibly short on personnel off on holidays so it took then longer to get around to cashing the check. They don't look at your package at this stage of the game except to make sure the application form and the payment are present and the payment is correct. If there is a problem with the incorrect amount they send the application back, otherwise, they cash the cheque. For the next little while, your application will wait in line until an adjudicator has a chance to look at it. If there are any problems then you may receive an RFE for more evidence or different evidence, or be scheduled for an interview after an adjudicator looks at it, but that hasn't happened yet. So, be glad/relieved they have cashed your check because that means they have received the application and accepted it. It doesn't mean anything more than that at this stage in the game.

Very good insight. I've found it very helpful. Do you think that we will have any chance to find out about others to see if everybody has been enduring the same during this holiday season?

Thanks a lot.
