Write down your phone number and address to put in his wallet. I "lost" my husband on his first outing. Some guy came bringing him home after he had drove him all around town looking for familiar landmarks. :P

 wow....I am afraid...hopefully mine won't get lost...how sad...but funny

 aww poor thing

If money isn't an issue...the sooner he can have his own mobile phone, the more independent he will feel....

I work at t-mobile and already have his G1 ready with GPS and one that can show his own location I will also plug in our home address so he can get directions after pushing "at location" and hit to home.....

I feel bad about my husband ever getting lost i can't imagine poor guy

Didn't even consider his own keys lol.... haveto put that on my list

LOL mine didn't get keys until about a week before the interview. We rode to work together and spmeone always drove everywhere (until he got his license almost 6 months later) so there was no 'reason' for him to have a set and it never crossed our minds...UNTIL it occurred to me that he might need to show a house and car key to the interviewer.

food was and is still a major issue in our household. If yours has issues with food at all...let him know that you are ready to help make whatever kind of food he would like and you could even take him to the grocery store so he can help pick out the ingredients.

I had mine have his mom and sisters write down alllllllllll the recipes they could think of that he liked. I made sure to tell him to get the recipes for his most favorite dishes so we could prepare them like his mama did. That recipe book came in really handy many times since nobody cooks like mama! lol.... Also, since the recipes were in arabic, it gave us something we would do together. he would translate and I'd prepare. sometimes he'd have to show me coz he didn't know the english word for stuff. it was very interesting but created very fond moments.

OHHH and another thing...I wish i would have waited a week or so before introducing him to my family. I should have let him become a little bit more comfortable in our home and then slowly invited my family a couple at a time to the house to meet him in his own territory. It would have helped him feel more relaxed. He also wouldn't have told my mother that her house needed to be organized....

Or doing like me and throwing a big Welcome Home party the weekend after he arrived. He was surrounded by 50 strangers in addition to the new culture (men and women in the same room).

also get the AoS off as soon as possible. One of the biggest things I remember reading while waiting for my hubby was how bored they get if they can't work. And boredom usually leads to trouble. I'd start getting any papers in order that you can that will help you be able to file sooner. I think since you are already married and he comes with 2yr green card you can just apply for EAD.

Hey humpkin. I see you down there.

What I can't figure out is why he washes dishes in lukewarm water and a sponge that's been dipped in soapy COLD water... but wants me to boil his underwear!!! Hellooooooooooooooooooooo we don't EAT on the undies.. we do on the dishes! Maybe it comes from writing backwards... hehehehehehehe

That reminded me of how my husband used to wash his dishes with Tide in Morocco. Tee hee.

Do Egyptians do the same thing?

No, Tide is too expensive... tehehehehehehehehehehehe it's HIGHLY diluted CHEAP liquid dish soap... they put a few squirts in a plastic bowl by the sink, fill it up with water, and leave the sponge in it until it mummifies.. (or I sneak in there at night and bury it in the bottom of the trash bag where no one can pull it out...) and make a new one "miraculously appear"...

How about the meat? In Morocco they have halal . So how does he feel about reg. meat from super market? does he feel its not right? Will he only eat "halal" meat from speical market??

My husband only heats halal meats. In London he was fortunate bec. there are plenty of Halal place. Alot pizza, fried chicken, etc. And he cooked at home most of the time.

Here there are only two small shops they are across town, more expensive. So we have to compramise. I have to get halal meat, reg meat from grocery store for me and kids . But sometimes we all eat the halal meat, and sometimes he goes weeks without meat.

just wondering about that one.

I just remembered how much time and money we wasted on him re-doing his immunizations here... Does your husband have his already and documentation of them? They didn't ask for immunizations as a part of the medical exam in Egypt so we figured they weren't needed. Then we find out that he has to have them for the AOS.... $$$$$$ and TIME!!!!!!

Are you able to add him to your health insurance? I'm self-employed so this was a HUGE problem for us...

I also wanted to suggest you scoop up some WARM WINTER WEAR

I also wanted to suggest you scoop up some WARM WINTER WEAR for him during these huge post Christmas sales. H won't let me buy anything for him so I'm really glad I had already got some things for him before he got here... (too late to take it back :)

And I don't know if you want to go down this road, but Arabic Satelitte and some of his favorite music on CD's will make him feel at home. I broke down about a month after H got here and got the Arabic Dish... (drives me insane, but has been a life saver for him...)

Very strange. Wael had to have his immunizations as part of his medical exam. Did they say why he didn't have to have them?

Hi Rajaa,

One of the things i had my husband do b/f he came was to buy a nice bared (Moroccan teapot...just a small one) and bring lots of his favorite tea. It is worth it if your husband is a tea drinker... can't really find the same tea here...

Congratulations! And good luck!

so yeah going to get his hiney butt to work.. made connections with the local stores and such I asked how he felt about being in a store that sells alchohol he's not too excited but he will take any job he can find until a better one presents it's self.

:star: plus on the agenda is metting up with you two ;)

once he gets his SSN he can be on my insurance so i am hoping it won't be too long. We did the AOS already cause of the CR1 but it's good to know to have him bring them just in case

That's a great idea on the winter clothes!!! think i'll go to old navy and take a look... i am a little concerned about his size of pants.. i think i'll have to ask him.

and i soooo wanted the arabic dish but I can't get it cause the only place we cant hook it up is facing south and we don't :(
