lol I've considered getting myself a bike but I'm sure it would look really weird to see a whale with 2 wheels protruding from her nether regions rolling down the street hahahaha omg...breathe amal, breathe....

I want to get a wii coz it's great exercise to those of us who are sedentary once we get home from 12 hour days at work and for children who never move lol. i actually worked up a sweat playing tennis at Thanksgiving playing against my son. It was a blast! We just don't have the money to get one right now. We will see what the future brings.

are we back to weight loss again??

i keep wondering how long it is going to take me to finally GET SICK OF MYSELF

gym membership expired and quite frankly I cannot get motivated in my tiny apartment.

I think eating less and eating healthy is a good start and could easily lose the first 10 pounds that way.

DID I SAY THE FIRST 10 pounds....yes I did

oh...childhood stories, eh

well I spent a fair amount of time outdoors in the neighborhood growing up

it wasnt until I got my car that I literally de-existed from home and started to make contacts

farther and farther away

once I got married I ventured off more far

then for the second marriage...well my own state and neighboring ones were still too close

finally I settled for some contact across the Atlantic :P

all in all tho

the contacts I had before high school were really lame

My mom didnt really encourage me to do extra curricular activities or spend time with me

I was not very creative

very into my barbies and music

my kids however...extremely energetic and athletic, not wanting to stay inside even in the freezing cold

they have a ton of friends and are well liked, I am thankful for that

they arent real clingy

What childhood memories I have!! I spent much of my life overseas, and hence my love of travel and history developed. My best friend was always my twin. Being in one place only a couple years at a time left no time for developing long lasting friendships. To this day it is one thing that I miss the most, but, the friends I did make I never forgot. When one grows up in the military, they learn from an early age any friends you make you will probably not see again. It was tough to leave a boyfriend, a girlfriend, a great teacher, but we accepted it. What we did learn was a life long understanding of other cultures and adaptability to any situation. Other countries shaped my life.

I was truly blessed with my childhood and it still exists today with many more adventures!

I know that mine likes to hand wash alot of his clothes. Says the wash machine don't do a good enough job. and he hates the sound of the dryer.

For my husband its the dishes.. doesn't want to use the dishwasher... would rather do them by hand... (says he's bored and has to have something to do!)

What I can't figure out is why he washes dishes in lukewarm water and a sponge that's been dipped in soapy COLD water... but wants me to boil his underwear!!! Hellooooooooooooooooooooo we don't EAT on the undies.. we do on the dishes! Maybe it comes from writing backwards... hehehehehehehe

Very normal girley! I tried to think of it like this...they know they won't be seeing their families and friends for an undetermined amount of time so it's scary for them ON TOP OF THE FACT that they aren't just moving to another town or to somewhere within the only continent they've known all their lives, but halfway accross the world where anything can happen. It's all too common for them to want "special time" with friends and family before they leave (especially mamas). Don't worry. It's alllll gooooood

My husband hasn't seen his family or friends in over 3 years. If all goes according to plan, inshaAllah inshaAllah inshaAllah he'll see them before it rolls over to 4. Give him all the time he needs, because he may not see them for a good long while.

Yeah I can't imagine what it will be like for Govi IF he passes his interview and he comes here, how hard it will be leaving his family and everything he knows to come live in a dirty overcrowded apartment in a concrete jungle.... I am so afraid sometimes that he will just want to get on the next plane back home....

I remember when I came here from Hawaii 9(!) years ago I wanted to get my fill of time with friends, family and all the things about Hawaii I loved because I didn't know when I would be coming back... Compared to NYC Hawaii really is like another country with a different culture so I can relate - to leave that and your family too it must be so hard - I know Nepalis here who have not been to see their families(either parents or even their own wives and kids) in 2-3 years.

Does he know how to use plastic? My husband had never had a credit/debit card before and the only time he'd seen an ATM was when I used one in Egypt. If not, add a trip to the bank onto your list of things to do. If possible, open a joint account with him, and then show him how the ATM machine works, and how you buy stuff with a credit card at the store.

How about a bus card?

I remember Bosco (old skool vj-er) did some really cool things before her husband came. I think she had taped all the different coins to a piece of paper and wrote down what each was called and how much they were worth.
