Congrats Sad Eyes ... and good luck Obynoxx!!

We got Packet 3 in the post today ....

I'll be sending the stuff out to them on Monday ... I don't have a printer at the moment so will need to wait until Saturday to get access to one ....

Can someone confirm that it's only the checklist and the DS-230 Part 1 that I need to send off??? My brain's mince now ... just so excited about the whole thing!

Oh, I got Steve to rake out the tax stuff that he filed last year .. hopefully that will do as proof of income along with the letter from his workplace and his bank. I don't want to wait until this year's taxes are done - so he's just going to send me what he has ... :D

OK .. get your crystal balls out everyone. If I send the pack back on Monday .... any guess-timates on when my interview might be??

I'm laughing here ... what a silly question ....

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Moira x

Hi Moira, you also need to send Forms DS-156, DS-156K and DS-157 (all in duplicate). If you go to the website it says in Packet 3 and SCROLL down the page (don't click on the 'jumps' because they send you to an old page) there is a box called 'What Happens next' which is very useful. You can do steps 1 and 2 in one go if you have all your documents ready (or think you will soon) and booked your medical. The date of your inteview will be affected by what you put in the 'Date of travel' box I think - apparently usually about a month before that - but really who knows??! Good luck!

Hi H&V

Thanks for that. I read all the information and think I have a better grasp of what I need to do. I guess I'm panicking a bit and trying to do everything all at the same time. I should just slow down, take things a step at a time and do things properly!

Marm's post put the whole "date of interview" thing into perspective for me. I'm not so worried about the date of interview now ... I'm just looking forward to being able to relax while I'm waiting for the date to arrive!!

Thanks again ... you're a star ... :star:

That's great news Marm!!

We got our packet 3 in the post yesterday ... so it's all systems go to get it sent back for Monday ... :D I think I know what you mean about relaxing now ... I don't think I would mind waiting as long as I had a date to look forward to!

Oh, can I ask you ... when you emailed the Embassy, did you need a special code? Or did you just send it normally?

Have a great weekend everyone ...

Moira x

Congrats on receiving packet 3 :) Yes, before my fiance emailed the embassy he called the the embassy and asked for the email code. If you don't include that code in the subject/body of your email, they delete it and your email will not get acknowledged. The charges for calling the embassy (1.20 GBP/ minute) are ridiculous, but it does not take longer than 2 minutes to get the email code. My fiance called them as soon as their office opened: 8:00 AM. The phone number to get the email code is:

For Operator Assisted Visa Information call 09042-450100 (this is NOT a London number. It does not require any other prefix or dialling code.) Service available Monday through Friday, 8.00 a.m. until 8.00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m.; £1.20/min; only available in the U.K., within U.K. may be unavailable from some business telephones and mobile networks.

Thanks Marm - I've written that down just in case - much appreciated!

Hi all just some info for those who haven't recently joined us. You can email USE London without the code from the extortion line. You will get an email saying it has been deleted but it hasn't.

I would not necessarily encourage everyone to email without the code, especially if you have pressing need, however before I was placed in AP I would email placing my LND number and John & my names in the subject line. I always got the deleted response but then always got a response to the email anyway.

I'm back...firstly, thank you so much guys for your support, advice and to visa journey's guides, if it wasn't for you we wouldn't have got this far!

As most of you know had my interview today :)

I travelled down to London yesterday with my mum, my appointment time was 9am and we decide to book in somewhere so it was less stress..lol

We stayed at The millenium Hotel, which is literally a stonesthrow form the Embassy..i have a tendency to get lost (even with a map), so my mum thought it a better idea. It wasn't cheap 180 quid (for the two of us) for the night including breakfast, but it was definately better than travelling down on the 5.30 am train from nottingham, and i knew my mum wouldn't be wandering the streets while i was inside.

I made my way over to the Embassy at 8.30, and there was quite a big queue, so i joined the line and waited. After several secruity checks, i went around the corner to the 'visa' entrance and made my way up the steps. Handed my letter over the a lovely lady in reception and was given a number, went through to the waiting area and managed to find a seat (it was really busy) the time clocked on my ticket was 8.53, just made it!

The room reminds me of a cross between argos and a bank...numbers are called and you go to the relevant window..oh top tip, wear comfy shoes, you get to stand throughout the whole interview!

I was called after what felt like an age to the window number 1...and i got the vietnamese lady, thankfully had all my paperwork in hand, so handed her, my passport, birth certs, police report, 2 photo's, letter from my solicitor with my sons fathers signature, divorce paper, and the Affadvit of support (and all copies of course) she talked some about her daughter, and how when she visited Nottingham Uni she liked the campus, but hated the city...i agreed, think i'd have agreed with anything at that point..lol Then she scanned my fingers from both hands then my thumbs!

Then she gave me a slip of paper, sent me to another window to pay, and told me to return to her with the receipt. Off i went told the lady would like to pay in sterling, as i pulled out my wallet she commented on it being a 'spongebob' one, i explained my kids got it me, so i have to use it..lol paid 180 pounds, 90 for me and 90 for my son, whose travelling with me.

Then made my way back to window 1! Handed in my reciept, was given back my fiance's birth certifcate and was told to take another seat and wait for my number to be called!

I'm guessing it would be around 40 minutes after i'd sat back down (there is no clock in there, and i rely on my phone for the time..so have nooo clue what time it was) i was called to another window!

This was it! I tried to stay calm and went over, i really hadn't have worried. the guy was really nice. He asked me to raise my right hand, and asked me to swear i'd tell the truth..My fingers were rescanned to check that i was still me!

Then asked me how myself and Jerry had met, when we first met in person, where we will live, how did he propose, what was my longest stay in the US. I signed a few papers, and that was it, the guy looked up handed me a form to take to the courier desk to pay for delivery of my visa, and wished me luck with the wedding and 'i hope you enjoy your new life in the United States Of America' 'APPROVED'

I was soooo relieved and happy, i had taken so much paperwork, and wasn't asked for any of it...not even letter's of intent! If it wasn't for the glass i think id've hugged him..lol

It was around midday by the time i reappeared, but the time spent and the wait was more than worth it so i can be with the guy I love.

I want to wish each and everyone of you with interviews coming up, good luck. the only advice i can give is go as prepared as you can, triple check everything, smile and STAY CALM..lol...and you can't go wrong!

Selina.

Conrats Obbynox!! :dance::dance:

Well I got my packet 3 ready to be posted tomorrow.

I also got my police certificate application ready. I'm a bit worried about this one because I left the UK in September '08 to spend 90 days in US with my fella & I re-directed all my mail to our US address. I rented out the house I own in the UK.

When I got back (naively thinking that my NA02 would be approved) I had to go stay at my parents house where I am currently staying. I dont have any proof of address here and like an idiot only just realised that I'd need proof for my police check.

I called the police check place & they said to get my parents to write a letter to confirm I'm staying with them & also they have to provide 2 proofs of address instead.

I'm worrying about it but I'm sure it's ok. I suppose its the criminal background they are checking on afterall.

I just thought I'd post to see if anyone else has experienced this. If not, just to let you know what they said in case anyone else has the same problem.
