I ended up getting an RFE because I believed that the I-130 the Embassy had posted on their website was the most recent version. Well, it wasn't (in fact it had changed about 10 days or so before I filed), and it did not include the information that for doing DCF you now needed to enclose proof of relationship beyond just a marriage certificate. In fact, the filing instructions also posted on the website went out of their way to say something like "Do not enclose rental agreements, bills, insurance certificates as proof of relationship." I got an RFE just for this stuff in the end. I was not pleased, to say the least. I agree that there really is no excuse in this day and age for not posting up-to-date info when it is so easy to do so.

Is it feasible to have my medical on one day and the interview on the next? I realise I'd need to wait for the medical results before any visa would be issued, but I'll be travelling from Scotland, and don't want to make two journeys down to London if I can avoid it. Also, someone mentioned the name of a hotel across the road from the Embassy - and I can't find the post that I saw it in .. any suggestions on where to stay? Somewhere central to both the Embassy and the Dr's Office? How far is the Dr's office away from the Embassy? Is it within walking distance? Sorry lol - I keep thinking of more questions to ask ....

Lastly ... I know I'm going to need some moral support on the day, so my Mum is going to be travelling with me - is it OK if my Mum comes into the Embassy with me?

Mum won't be allowed in but there's a park by the Embassy if it's nice weather or a coffee shop/bakery down N. Audley street.

I made you a map showing the hotel where we stayed Lincoln House Hotel and also the Marble Arch Inn where others have stayed. Lincoln House is like a bed and breakfast. They held our luggage and phones free for us while we went to the Embassy. Then we went back and retrieved the phones before doing some sightseeing, but they held the luggage all day. They also have a free computer with internet under the stairs on the first level so you can post you interview results to VJ. We didnt pay as much as the website says. They publish some specials and we negotiated by calling. I timed the walk to the Embassy and it was 20 minutes.

First, grats to pothergavel :D.

Secondly, thankums for the info Nich -- I might see if I can leave my stuff with them, or a friend of mine who works on Oxford Street. All I'll be taking is a little backpack and my shoulderbag, which isn't much at all...do you think Lincoln House will charge me a lot for that? I mean, I won't be staying there or anything, but I'm hoping they might hold my things for me.

Hugs,

Magpie.

Magpie--just leave your stuff at Gould's Pharmacy on N. Audley for a fiver. It's cheap and close to the Embassy. We stayed overnight at the hotel so that's why we left stuff there.

Mrs. sdp: Take mum and spend the night somewhere and enjoy her company and support for everything but the waiting room of the Embassy. It's only a couple of hours at the most depending on how busy they are. Take a magazine to read or a puzzle book or else all you have to do while waiting is stare at people or that number screen showing what numbers have been called. The interview will go smoothly and you and mum can celebrate together afterwards.

Pothergavel: Congratulations!

Finally got an interview date....but there is a slight issue we have...and I am sure some wonderful person here can help us!

Our interview is scheduled for March 30, 2009 @ 8:30 AM BUT we need to RESCHEDULE!

Anyone know how to reschedule the interview date (we want one for the third week of April because my fiance has a college project he needs to go to Wales to from March 20- April 15). Should my fiance call the embassy or write to the embassy or email them? HELP!!! :help:

Anyone ever rescheduled an interview in London?

I know its crazy, we were so impatient for an interview date, and now that we have one, we need to reschedule it for later!

Also, another important thing, how late can you reschedule an interview date? 2 weeks before the interview? 10 days before? :help:
