Some days, I love the time difference between Omaha and London. This is one of those days. I was awakened at 4:30 am by a very happy fiance who says the embassy has blessed his arrival in America! We were very confident (thanks to endless reading of VisaJourney!), by the end of yesterday, that all the paperwork was in order. Ian said he was asked 4 questions... the "how did you meet", "when were you engaged", etc. sort of things. The man interviewing him at the embassy said his sister met her husband online and they'd been married 10 years. :) They said he should have his paper visa within 5 days and he will be ready to fly at that point. We're both very excited! :)

It tells you not to bring them but doesn't show what happens if you do. I've been to the embassy before a few years ago and can't remember what I did with mine when I went in. So can you or can't you take your phone in with you???

Hi, I have a question about the interview. I was watching the youtube video of the embassy and it says that you cannot take in mobile phones. It tells you not to bring them but doesn't show what happens if you do. I've been to the embassy before a few years ago and can't remember what I did with mine when I went in. So can you or can't you take your phone in with you???

No phone allowed, full stop. Either don't take it or leave it at the chemist round the corner who has a nice sideline in left property.

Hi, I have a question about the interview. I was watching the youtube video of the embassy and it says that you cannot take in mobile phones. Many months ago they used to let you leave them at the outside guard station. That is no longer the case. Nik says when people showed up with such contraband they were turned away. This includes the remote locking key fobs for your car.

So, if it's important to you that you go in for your interview - and get in on time - leave your cell phone and other electronics behind.

Thanks for the advice guys. I have my medical first so I'll have a little look around outsided the embassy to find the chemist and also check out lockers in the tube station etc to see what my options are. I agree it's better to leave it at home than risk not getting the visa but I'd feel a lot safer travelling down from the north with it.
