Some cases require additional administrative processing. If you attended a visa interview on or after October 1, 2009 and you received a 221(g) "Administrative Processing" handout at the interview, you can check the status of your case on-line. The case status report will be updated periodically.

This web-page is under the "non-immigrant" visa section. Because K-1 visas are dual intent, they are immigrant visas but are issued in the Non-Immigrant Visa Unit. So this would apply to K-1 visas and most probably all other visas as well since the statement above does not differentiate between IV and NIV.

With regards to the batch #: (quoted from the site)

In order to check the status of your application, you will require your Batch No (found on the 221(g) leaflet handed to you at the visa interview.

So the batch # is on the 221(G) paper given at the time of visa interview for those that are put under AP. I am assuming it is the case # as the #s do look like case #s, but I could be wrong.

So it looks like we're nearly done gathering all the forms and such together for the interview, and I wanted to post this final list to see if everything is in order.

1) Copy of Sarah's medical and recipt

2) Original interview letter

3) Supplemental information about Sarah's old J-1 including the DS2019, as well as an old green card she had until she was 11 through her parents

4) Passport, Illinois state ID (from the J-1), social security card, extra passport photos, long form birth and adoption certificates, UK police certificate

5) Support information: My I-134, a letter from my employer, 2007 and 2008 tax returns (as I've only been actively working for a couple years), and a bank statement to support the I-134

6) Evidence of relationship - skype call logs, facebook messages, photos, boarding passes from my trips to the UK, some cards that Sarah sent me, etc.

7) Additional information about the time Sarah spent on her J-1, including a lease, paystubs, and her 2008 US tax return.

Am I missing anything glaring? Reading most of the interview experiences it seems to basically be handing in the passport and I-134 and that's it, but I feel it's best to overprepare rather than underprepare.

We're gathering our stuff together for the interview on Wednesday! We just have the evidence of continued relationship, which Ian is printing as I type this, and photocopying of everything specified in the IV-15 letter.

I think we're ready!

We have our interview date, letter went out today DOS says. Interview is November 3rd at 9:00am. I want to thank Dyfed for the cover letter suggestion as I think it helped. We got the date only 4 days after packet was logged in at the embassy.

Oh god Sarah's interview is TOMORROW.

It feels so bizarre to know that in about 6 hours, Sarah will be off on the coach to London and that I can't be there to support her We know that the UK interviews are usually a walk in the park (her J-1 certainly was) but it's hard to not be incredibly nervous given that this is probably the most important interview in our lives to date.

The interview took place on the 02nd of Oct 09

i was approved pending additional documents (they wanted a recent police certificate less than 6 months)

sent documents on the 05 -10-2009

It took 11 days from that date to receive the txt from the embassy courier service
