Hello all.

My fiance and I have been on AR/AP for almost 4 months now. We have been in checks in Washington.....had checks cleared and case returned to the embassy....told his would be getting his visa in a few days and then told he was back on checks again in Washington. What a he$$ of a rollercoaster! Last month before we know he was BACK on security checks I contacted my congressman. Today this is the letter I received from him.

Dear Congressman Hulshof:

Thank you for your e-mail dates May 20, 2006, concerning the immigrant visa petition for Mr. XXXXX and Ms. XXXXX the HUSBAND for your constituent, Ms. XXXXX

His case is currently pending a mandatory AR to be conducted at the Department of State. Wile we did previously conduct a smililar check, which was completed at the time Ms. Brown received the attached e-mail response, the consular officer discovered that new information had been addis to the CLASS database in the interim which necessitated a second administrative check.

Under current Department of State policy, there is no specific time frame as to when a final determination will be made. However, please rest assured that IF and WHEN a clearance is received, we will Notify him immediately and process his case to conclusion.

Ok....first of all, he is my finance, not my husband. Second.....IF and WHEN???? What is this all about? I'm seriously a ball of nerves and am gonna puke! HELP!!!! :help:

Oh Dear, I can see your concern...especially with the fact that they are calling your fiance - husband...as for the security checks I must say that I am not even sure what to think of them...How is the AP in Cairo? Does it usually takes that long? And why are they coming up with new informations that must be checked...a lot of unanswered questions...I am sorry that I do not have much of an impute...I am sure some of the ladies going thru Cairo will have more experience...My only suggestion would be trying to contact the embassy and the DOS yourself to maybe clarify the discreptancy in how they are addressing your fiance...Hope that your will get some direct answers that will reassure your mind and calm your heart...

First of all, the husband vs fiance thing is probably just a typo. You might want to email Egypt and just clarify that with them.

Second of all, the whole if and when stuff is just to cover their butts, IMO. It's their way of not committing to the process ending in any specific result or timeframe.

I wouldn't worry so much about it... but I know it's hard not to :(

I'm in agreement with this. I think the term "husband" could very easily have been a boo boo, but YES email Cairo and bring it to their attention. Cover your butt. At least there will be a record of THEIR mistake then. "If and when" is their own "butt coverage". I'm just sorry that its more waiting. I know it really sucks. Just hang in there. You will be together again soon.

I think it just sounds like security clearance language. If and when they get clearance. They can't say when they get clearance because they don't know if it will come up clear. The word husband I am sure is a Typo. And if he has a common name they will need to verify the rest of his info to rule him out. I don't think you should freak out over this.
