James Joseph Cialella Jr., 29, of the 1900 block of Hollywood Street is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons violations for allegedly shooting a guy who talked through a movie.

A South Philadelphia man enraged because a father and son were talking during a Christmas showing of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button took care of the situation when he pulled a .380-caliber gun and shot the father, police said.

James Joseph Cialella Jr., 29, of the 1900 block of Hollywood Street is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons violations.

"It's truly frightening when you see something like this evolve into such violence," said police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore.

Police were called to the Riverview Theatre in the 1400 block of Columbus Boulevard about 9:30 p.m. where the gunshot victim, a Philadelphia man who was not identified, told police a man sitting near him told his family to be quiet and threw popcorn at his son.

After exchanging words, Vanore said Cialella allegedly got out of his seat to confront the family when the father got up to protect them. That's when the victim was shot once in the left arm, sending others in the theatre running to safety.

Cialella then sat down to watch the movie. Police arrived a short time later and arrested Cialella and confiscated his weapon, Vanore said.

last time someone really annoyed us at the movies we just left, shooting them did cross my mind though...

So someone else broke the rules and you left?

Did you at least talk to a manager and get your money back?

nope, luckily the movie was lame. this girl was shaking her keys and kept reciting the lines before they happened... we weren't about to get into a fight about it so we just left and vowed never to go to the cinema again. ;)

Doesn't make sense to me. I'd have been confrontational about it, but with the manager. It's a good way to get free tix.

it happens every time i go to the movies, maybe i'm just unlucky? after a while, complaining about other people being stupid gets tiresome and it's easier to ignore them instead. i'm sure we will go again one day, when something worthy comes out. ;)

That's what he gets for being rude and not following the rules. I flip out on people who talk in the movie theater. I don't kill them though

What do you do to them?

Normally I give them a really dirty look and if they don't get the point I say something really b*tchy and smart ### to them. No one has ever kept talking after an encounter with me at the movies. About a month ago this lady just kept on having a convo when someone called her after she was like oh I'm in a movie. I don't mind if someone forgot to turn off their phone and they're like whispering hang on and then they walk out to talk. This lady just kept on having a loud ### convo. Then when I said something to her she said "I can't help it that I have kids" I said "yeah you can...you're the one who had them...I'm sure you know how to NOT have them". My mom was mortified but it shut the lady up

Yeah right, Amber :P

I really am that mean. It happened. We were watching Changeling and it was a super important part when they're in the court room.

 you're nuts!

btw that's a really good movie

I never said I wasn't nuts. People interrupting me doing anything is one of my biggest pet peeves. Pisses me right off.

I'm seriously a super nice person unless you interrupt me doing something. Doesn't matter if the something is important or not. If I'm interrupted then I get mean.
