Biometrics appointment

I received my letter for the biometrics appointment a few days ago. My appointment is on January 9 at noon. This is a Friday and unfortunately I work from 9-4 on Fridays. Can I go to the place a few days earlier on my day off, or does it have to be on the date listed? Also does it have to be at time listed too? I would rather get it done early then waiting for the place to fill up at noon.

Almost every ASC will accept an early walk-in - bring your original appointment letter (and ID/Passport, along with Marriage Certificate if name change) and you should be fine. I've never read of anyone turned away.

Most ASC offices will accept walkins as long as you have the appointment letter. Some are open Saturdays and closed Sundays and Mondays.

Our office has Wednesday for walkin day. Give it a try as all they can say is no. Take MC and PP with you.

I had my apointment yesterday, they (2) were scheduled to be 10am and 3pm, i was there at 9 and had them both taken care of in less than 10 mins :D

But i would like to ask, is it normal, that they refused :o to stamp my passport, i mean, dont they usually do that when biometrics are taken??

Any advise for me how to get it stamped, since i may have to fly few times (domestic flights) and i would hate to be in trouble when my I-94 shows i've stayed in here overtime.

Thanks

I don't understand what you want them to stamp your passport with? You have just started the AOS process, you do know that you are not approved yet?

After driving 40 minutes in freezing rain where I couldn't see outside my windows I got to the office today and was told no we won't take you until noon on Friday. So to all those that think you can go early, you can't. I arrived at the office at 10:30 and was told to come back in an hour because my letter had 12:00 as the timeslot. I then asked if it was okay to do it today 2 days before the scheduled date. Then the guy said "Oh I didn't even notice the date, no, you have to do it on the date scheduled, come back on Friday at 11:30". They said that they could reschedule it for a Wednesday but it will be a while before I could get in. I told them that I didn't receive my first letter until 1 week after the scheduled time because the post office took 4 weeks to give me the letter. I was originally scheduled for December 26, but didn't get the letter until January 2 and luckily after trying to get a hold of a customer service person at USCIS (I had to go through an option to change mailing address because I found no other way to reach a live person on the phone) I found out that they rescheduled it to Jan 9 because the offices were closed on December 26 - (I had already got a letter for Jan9 about 2 weeks before this). When I told them this that if they reschedule that I may not get the letter until a week after their response was "well we can't help the post office". So I have no choice but to keep the original date and now I will have to miss a whole day of work because they schedule me right in the middle of the day.

So for anyone who is thinking about going to their appointment early, save yourself the trouble and don't do it. It may just be at the office I am at. I was at the office in Cranston, RI. The staff there is really rude and they will not see you even an hour before the scheduled date and time.
