Hello All,

Finally I got my visa after 28 months wait,

I have a question ...if some one could reply me that.

I have an understanding that after my entry in US i have 90 days to register my marriage with my fiancee.

Do i need to avail these 90 days with my valid visa or my visa can expire in the meanwhile.

(5months 10 days single entry visa)

You have 90 days to marry. K1 visa is a ONE time entry visa and basically is useless once to enter the US.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

You also have to use the visa within 6 months from the day it is issued - so that means you need to come to the US within the 6 months before the Visa expires. If it expires and you have not yet come to the US you cannot use it. Once you get to the US the visa is used up but you have a new clock that starts ticking - 90 days. At the border your passport will be stamped with an I-94 card and this card will give you 90 days. You need to get married within those 90 days in order to complete the K-1 visa process.

The next step after you marry is that you need to apply for permission to remain in the US legally - to adjust your status from a non-immigrant fiance to an permanent resident. This is the AOS form I-485 - but at least the two of you are together while you wait for this form to be processed. When it is, you will receive your green card.

Congratulations on getting your visa - that was a ridiculously long wait!

Exactly correct, of course. I'm seconding it because it's the only post that answered your question directly. The expiration date of your visa means nothing once it is used.

WOW CONGRATS!!!

Hmmm, I am new member of this site, in active of posting comments or suggestions since I dont know how? heheh...but I love this site so much, it help us to guide on what to do next. 28 months of waiting visa is so long time, but in my case, I known my american guy on the late Feb 2004, we started chatting on that on line and exchange emails, and he visited me thrice, his last visit was on my birthday Sept 12, 2008, i am 28 years old now and he is 43 but age doesn't matter, right? we been struggling lots of trials in life of our relationship, and there were times that I wish to give up because of the long waits till we got started for our paper works. Of course, I do understand my man's situation because he help my family in philippines so much and educate my sister, and other matters. I was keep praying all the time that wishing someday we can start our paperworks, and it is true God will answer ur prayer not now but takes time of patience to wait. HE tested us on how strong our faith to HIM, we are not so religious couple, my man is Mormon but single man with no kids or other girls..while me is Catholic and single too, but religion don't matter unless u have care, love, respect or great understanding to each other. That are those important things to me.

Imagine that, we started to file I-129f on May 19,2008, and it is our first time to file, we not so expert on what to do, nor pay attoryney, We just do it for ourselves with the help of this site. I keep reading here and printed some details on what to do, copy some example forms...etc. My cousin introduce me this site too, that is how I knew this site. My man is working hard to make more funds so that we can pay the funds, and etc.. and he didn't much time to read this site. So, it is my job to share him what to do so.. and share him some guides for K1 or the flow chart. His computer has so poor connection, that is why he can't open this site as fast as like the windstorm  And when we got our second notice as Approved Petition, we were so happy because we knw that next steps on this is VISA on hand:-) So, went to medical on Nov. 19, 2008, got interviewd on Dec 03,2008, VISA ON HAND DEC 09, 2008, flew to SEATTLE DEC 12, 2008. And am one of the happiest women in the world who celebrated Christmas with Him:-). Inspite of the crisis that we have experience in this world, I always thankful to that Almighty because without those things we can't make it through. heheheh(hope u get what I meant guys)

Imagine, we are getting almost five years in our relationship and thanks God here we are, we stand together in the middle of crisis in US... My man is just a working hard type guy and stubborn but patience. He don't let problems in our lives to ruin our dream to become one as husband and wife. :star:

For now, we wait on January for our simple civil wedding, applied SSN last Dec 15, 2008 but I still waiting for the result because they say that it took four weeks of waiting to have it. They need my information. But at least I showed up there to get number. Soon, after we get married, we will go back there and change my last name, etc Then, apply for AOS, and so on and so forth. I need to recheck my guide here...hehehhe. OH well guys, I just share u how we made it in our paperworks. I am so thankful in the site for the information they posted here.

BTW, before I forgot for those filipina who will have interview to the US Embassy Manila, please note that no need an authorization from the attorney of your man's Affidavit of Support (I-134), but make sure there is signature on it and the date he accomplished that affidavit. Please excuse for my wrong grammar. Thank you.

God bless:-)
