Merry Christmas everyone! We hope you guys had a brilliant time yesterday! We recently got our NOA-1 from the Cali service center and were just wondering what the next step would be. Do you guys know what types of documents we need to gather up for the next stage of the application? Are there any paperwork not listed anywhere that is usually asked for at the interviews and such?

Alright, thanks in advance for your help and hopefully we can return the favour sometime in the future...

Hey,

from now on you will most likely have around 4-6 months to get ready for the next step.

Read the guides on VJ, it's all in there. :-)

Good luck!!

MAIN thing is to communicate with each other as much as possible and have records of such for the embassy interview. Better yet make another trip or two whicch helps a LOT showing you guys have a bonafide relationship.

Get your financial requirements ready for the interview. Certified BC and other documents of the beneficiary that relate to your case.

Other than that!

"Hurry up and wait" :crying:

Also can enroll in a "speed waiting course" :bonk:

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Hi Andrew and Christin,

Once you get your NOA2, your case will forward to the NVC. From there it goes to Frankfurt and then Frankfurt will send a packet of information to the beneficiary (called Packet 3). There are forms in there (also online at the Frankfurt consulate) for your fiance(e) to fill out and send back in. He/she will need police certs from any place he/she has lived for at least 6 months and will also need to gather information such as proof of ongoing relationship, etc. The petitioner will need to fill out some forms too and then there is a checklist that needs to be sent back to Frankfurt. They won't schedule your interview until that is received.

We received our NOA2 last December, right around the 19th (not sure, but it's on my timeline). We held off sending the packet back until about late February because my husband was here in the states visiting and we knew the time frame we needed the visa issued in order for him to finish graduate school. He got his interview in April and was issued the visa -- Frankfurt is a pretty low-hassle consulate. Once you get the visa you have six months in which to use it to enter the US. We waited until July so we had time to plan things.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your replies. But is it an absolute necessity to meet up once again? To be honest we're both very poor right now and can't afford the transatlantic flights. Would the consulate in Berlin give weight to the fact that we've lived together for more than a year both here in America and in Germany?

Having lived together is surely good proof! Your interview will be at Frankfurt embassy, that's the only embassy in Germany which gives out K1 visas.

Good luck!
