Though it happens all the time, for a Muslim to marry a Christian is against the Muslim teachings and traditions.

A Muslim man is allowed to marry a woman outside of Islam as long as she is either Christian or Jewish. Although they do prefer that he marries a Muslim. If they are from a Muslim country it of course is less common, but It happens in a non muslim country more than one might think.

What about a Muslim woman marrying a Christian man? My "first love" was a young Muslim woman in Sarajevo. Upon noticing that a romance was blossoming, her parents politely and as nicely as possible informed me that because I was an infidel, they would not permit her to continue seeing me.

That question in the MENA forum could open a huge can of worms, so don't take it there, I don't want it rehashed. I have been told that you are correct, a Muslim woman is only allowed to marry a Muslim man. It has been debated over there that it is not in the Quran. But in the majority of the Muslim population belief you are correct. I am sorry to hear what happened. That must have been a pretty hard blow as a first love experience. I hope that since you are here you have found someone that won't have the same kind of stress as it surely would have if you had pursued it further with your first love.

Favor to the Mods, please don't move this thread to the MENA forum.

too late

and yes a muslim man can marry a non muslim woman but not a muslim woman allowed to marry a non muslim man from my understanding she is no longer considered a muslimah if this happens. But I don't know they whys or anything I am sorry for what happened to you but everything does happen for a reason and look here you are now! :star:

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Why the heck is a Pakistani thread in MENA? LOL I have to laugh because some of my family on Christmas were saying things like "oh you're from the middle east? I know a pakistani fellow...". We really need to up our geography lessons in the USA apparently.

So every Muslim follows either one of these 4 schools of thought, all of them are correct, details may differ, but it is not like one school forbids something totally and the other school accepts it, nothing as drastic as that, its just where some details are doubtful, each school of thought interprets in their own way.

I disagree. Not EVERY muslim follows either one of the 4 schools of thought. What about the Shia muslims?

Oh yes, the "Oh #######" was because they moved it.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

I was speaking about the SUNNI MUSLIMS...and as far as I know, Shia's are considered a totally different group in the opinion of the entire Sunni majority. But if you still want to argue school of thought, then you can include Jaafri as the 5th school of thought for the Shia Muslims.

hi all...i know this may sound stupid...but did anyone have problems if their spouse was muslim or pakistani or from a muslim country? im just really worried about it...i know its supppose to be land of the free and the sept. 11 thing has died down a bit but im just really worried...my husband is from pakistan and i love him very much. it was not a problem for me that we had different religions...in fact, its one of the things that drew me to him, when we first met, how muslim he was but he was still so normal and was such a nice guy...(when we met in 2004)...because of all those terrorist things people show in the media that sometimes stereotypes people! most aren't true! im just so worried...

please share anyone

I'm always on here reading in a rush. So, I read this OP again. Back to topic now. And that's NOT what is "right" and "wrong" way to practice Islam. Jeez Louise.

We live in a major Texas city. It's pretty diverse. My husband has assimilated very well. The only thing he has noticed that is when he flies he is almost always (almost always...not always) chosen for the "random" checks that are done. He doesn't even gripe about that. I find that when we are out people are mostly politely curious about where he is from. It makes for great conversation. But, let me tell you: everyone is stereotyped, not just foreigners. ASk any subculture here in America - Hispanic, Middle Easterners, Blacks, East Asians, South Asians, Eastern Europeans, heck, even Whites. I run with a pretty politically incorrect "crowd" that comes in all colors, so I know. But we have not experienced any blatant hateful behavior...not that I recall.

Now, smalltown USA? Someone else would have to fill you in that experience.

Hope this contributes to the original topic that you started! :star:

Fear Allaah that is a major thing to say she is not a Muslimah anywhere. A "marriage" between a Muslim female and a non-Muslim man of any creed is not recognized in Islaam so it is as if there is no bond or marriage linking them. The Muslim woman is still Muslim but is a zaniyya (fornicator) and would be treated as one.
