I have a question for all of you K-3ers out there. Back when we did ours I filed the I-130, then I filed the I-129f. I am sure that you do the same now. Strange as it was they approved the I-130 first. Then totally lost the I-129f (not surprising).

When I went through the process they would work on them both, and the consulate would give the visa based on which one made it to the consulate first. In our case it was the CR1.

Now for my question. I have heard that if you file for the I-129f they will put a hold on the I-130. Is this true? This just seems wrong in my opinion, especially in consideration that they lost our I-129f, and it wasn't approved for well over a year later.

After reading some of this forum I am in shock. Our I-130 was approved, if I remember correctly, in about a month. I can certainly understand all of your frustrations since the I-129f is suppose to be faster.

They did this for few months beginning in mid November, 2006. They've since seen the error of their thinking and started processing both petitions together whenever possible. Usually approvals for both come on the same day. Before November 2006 the petitions were processed completely separately often at separate service centers with the I-129F usually being approved first. No worries on this issue now.

Thanks for the reply. So what I heard was correct, but it is no longer. That's good, I thought that was really stupid.

But for approving at the same time, and keep in mind we are done, but I would wait the additional few months to go for the CR1. But I remember all to well when we went through it, we would have taken the first thing that came along.
