Her passport was run through the washer and dryer. Don't ask why.

Its pretty much intact, but the principal photo page and her K-1 are really washed out. The numbers can still be read.

We are married now. The k-1 expires this Friday. We got all of our paperwork in last week (with great copies - before the incident). Her embassy can provide her with a new one in THREE MONTHS. Any thoughts of what appointments we might get and any needs for her passport in the three+ months following submitting for the I-485, I-765 and AP?

Thank You

Nobody has to ask why lol.......we've all done that!

Biometrics will required her passport. You should receive an appointment notice soon to go in for photo and fingerprints. Our bio appointment was actually about a month after we filed.

i don't get it.

Don't worry about the K1 visa beacause it is a one time shot visa for the sole purpose of entering the US. Her visa is no longer valid since she already used it to enter the country. The expiration date on it is just the last day she had to use the visa, meaning the last day she had to enter the US. If her passport is still in good condition then everything is good.

She might as well go ahead & apply for a replacement passport. If something arises where she must show hers, the old one should suffice for now, especially since you can provide good photocopies of the pre-laundered one.

Yes, the visa isn't the issue, it's the damaged primary photo page. That's the one used to verify identity when you go in for bio unfortunately. How is the photo? Can she get a replacement within a month or so? Advise her to do so if at all possible.

I only showed my State ID during my Biometrics. Does she have other ID's which she can use and just show the damaged passport in case they'll ask for it?

I did the same thing a while back, got my passport wet and it has totally washed out the photo on my L-1 visa stamp. the rest is clear, though all the detail in my photo is gone. The primary pic is fine since that page is laminated.

Had no problem getting back into the country since then - I even mentioned it to one of the guys at the immigration desk and he essentially said it didn't matter since you have the other photo in your passport anyway, and they have all the visa related info in their computer system.

5-13-09: Green card approved.

6-24-09: Received green card.

8-13-11: Received 10-year green card.

2-21-12: Sent N-400 to Dallas Lock box.

7-18-12: Naturalization interview (passed!).

Thank you all for your comments!

The photos are washed out, but everything is readable. We can't get a state id as she does not have her residency. We have pre-laundered copies of the passport, a national id and a Nica driver's license. The new passport will take three months. I think we should not give up the old passport and tell them the Nica consulate that it was destroyed, otherwise, if we need it for the biometrics, we are out of luck.
