As per immigration purposes, is the marriage date the actual day of the civil wedding, or when the license was filed? There is almost a month difference in my case, which is not a big deal, but just curious nonetheless.

Thank you waithatter. I may be misunderstanding you, but yes I know that the civil marriage (not religious, or any other marriage ceremony) date is what is considered. My question is if the date of the actual wedding is used, or once finally registered. You see, mine has two dates on it. The top part has the day of the ceremony and on the bottom a filed date. I hope your wait is not prolonged...best wishes to you and your SO!

Hi to all, I was told by person that deals with these things that the "official date" for Vietnam is when the license is registered, meaning the day you sign it. In the U.S., you sign the license after the wedding ceremony meaning they are the same day. In Vietnam, I returned a month later to sign license. That is the date I used. I had same question and the man that helped us was quite clear about this. I am no expert, but it does make sense if you think about it.
