Just want to have enlightment guys regarding my ssn..I aplied my ssn after 1 week I arrived here on my place,were already married when I applied for it but its still in my single name.They just confused on the middle name thats why they put in my single name for temporary.The SSA officer told me that we will just go back after all the papers were done so that they can change it for my married name. is this ok?

So what if we will come back to SSA office and change it for my married name?is that possible without yet the papers from USCIS?

Hey, my Wife and I did the same thing when we went to get her SS Card. We were already married but didnt have the Certificate yet so we went back once we had it and they changed it right away no problems, just be sure to bring your marriage certificate with you.

ok thanks we will do it maybe next week because its gonna be holiday for the next 2 days...So another question...just bit confusing regarding about the middle name..so your wife use your family name as her family name right?so how about her midde name?

hello..im so glad you got your ssn right after you married, unlike me here in alabama, there sucks!!!until now for over a month and a week now,i went back to the office and still they wont release my ssn , saying the uscis haven't updated my status to my married name, im so pissed really..i already have my ead card with my name,yet haven't updated yet..im thinking of goin back tomorrow and re-apply using my old surname not my married name..

if thats possible..i dunno!!

btw, you're alrightyou can always go back to change to your married name once you got your green card.

If you have your marriage certificate, unexpired I-94 showing K-1 status and passport, there is no reason that you can't be issued an SSN card with your married name and use your maiden name as your middle name.

Lisa Smith Jones applies for a replacement SSN card in that name because she lost her SSN card. The prior Numident records show the names Lisa Marie Smith and Lisa Jones. She submits a driver’s license showing her name as Lisa S. Jones.

It is a common occurrence in the U.S. for a woman to take her maiden name as the middle name after marriage. Because a legal name generally consists of a first or given name and a surname or family name, whether the identity document submitted shows the middle name is included, omitted or incorrect does not matter.

SSA can process the change of Lisa’s middle name. This is not a legal name change because the first and last names have not changed.

hi..i arrived in US w/ k1 visa last oct 2008 and got married the next month. Now im planning to a apply for ssn this week but my I-94 will expire on the 3rd week of this month..will it still be possible?? We already got the marriage certificate could I already use my married name by showing them my docs?? another thing i wanna ask about filling up SSN form, in the citizenship section..what do u think should i check? these are the options: legal alien allowed to work, legal alien not allowed to work or others? im juz confused....any answers will be appreciated..thank you:)
