HI, IM CURRENTLY LIVING IN CHINA AND WAS CONSIDERING MARRYING MY KOREAN GF WITHIN CHINA. I DO NOT SEE IT NECESSARY TO GO BACK TO THE USA FOR MARRIAGE PURPOSES AS MOST OF OUR FRIENDS ARE HERE IN CHINA AND MONETARY MATTERS PREVENT US FROM HAVING A BIG MARRIAGE IN THE STATES. HOWEVER, WE WILL RETURN TO THE US SOMETIME WITHIN THE NEXT TWO YEARS. BASICALLY, MY QUESTION IS DO I NEED TO RETURN TO THE US TO GET MARRIED OR CAN I STAY IN CHINA TO GET MARRIED WHILE STILL RETAINING MY WIFE'S RIGHT TO APPLY FOR RESIDENCY LATER ON? THANK YOU

juscrickinit,

No, you do not need to return to the USA to get married.

Recognize that your wife will have no 'right' to apply for US residency on the basis of the marriage, no matter where it takes place, unless and until you petition for her and the petition is granted.
