K1 Applicant,

Did interview at US Embassy in AbuDhabi/United Arab Emirat at August 2008.

Was told the case is approved, will call you in two weeks to pick up visa.

4months later, we are still waiting?

Senator wrote two letters, Embassy responded case is pending due to Admin Work.

Does any one have the same experience with the Us Embassy in AbuDhabi?

What are the chances of denying of my finace's case? if any? however no additional information is needed so far and we were told we are approved at the time of interview! just very frustrating?

Please share your input. I will be greatly thankful.

This is very common it means that your case is fine but your name and fingerprints are being checked in the many data bases before the visa can be issued.

I have talked with many applicants that have processed through this embassy. Once their checks are completed they are issued the visa. The problem with security checks is no one can tell you how long it will take for them to be all completed.

Unless they find something in the background checks your finance's case should be fine. All males coming from certain countries have to endure security checks before a visa can be issued and this is enforced especially since 9/11 happened. The CO will tell you that you are fine and just need administrative/additional processing and that is true. The name checks just take time especially if they are very common. Right now I know of one male at 6 months of AP with Abu Dhabi.

All you can do right now is hang tight and hopefully your checks will be completed soon. Good luck.

Please share your input. I will be greatly thankful.

Thank you for all your comments, very appriciated.

My fiance is Iranian, and Female.

What i don't understand is the process of backegorund check? how many times do we have to go through this background check during K1 visa process?

Once I filed my fiane's case to Vermont center for K1, it took Immigration office 1o months to approve our case and sends it to the Embassy for an interview. The hold up was FBI and Home land security background check cleared after nine months. I even called homeland security in D.C and they told us my fiace's case was cleared with them after 8 months, also with FBI. So what i am confused and frustrates is the fact if FBI is clear what other background checks are needed? plus we stuck one time, its not fair to go through this again? just very confused.

any way, thank you so so much for your help. this forum is very helpful.

There are tons of checks and being from Iran is one of the holdups on your case. Here is some information that may be helpful to you about the processing. The link it comes from is an attorney site and it says to make contacts with the agencies but really you cannot. It is just a useful tool for understanding AP. http://www.usaimmigrationattorney.com/Secu...tiveReview.html

At USCIS (Homeland Security Department) stage, currently, NCIC, IBIS and NIIS database checks are done, with the option, if warranted, to do additional database checks.

At National Visa Center (State Department) stage, a separate independent NCIC database check is done by in-house FBI staff in connection with information supplied in the DS-230. Based on results, NVC has the option to request full fingerprints to be taken at post. NVC checks can usually be completed in 24 hours. In some limited cases involving high-risk visa applicants meeting certain specific criteria, NVC also does Security Advisory Opinions (SOAs) before sending the file to Consular Post.

At Consular stage, there are three (3) Visa Security name checks done: CONDOR, MANTIS AND MORE ANOTHER NCIC (via CLASS)

[Consulate has option, if warranted, to run full gamut of checks, such as CCD (past visa applications & results), TIPOFF (DOS Bureau of Intelligence), NAILS (Nat'l Automated Immigration Lookout System), TECS II (Treasury Dept. database), TSC & TTIC (DOS Terrorist screening)].

Good luck and hopefully it will not take too much longer.
