Anyone having a hard time finding a decent job?

I recently got a job which pays me about $10 per hour and really irregular hours.

The economy is horrible and they keep cutting people's hours.

It makes me go inane. I have no help from my family anyways, so I will do my best.

(My parents are not very happy about my marriage)

Well, do you want to share your experience?

I really hope that things will get better soon. And as an immigrant, it is very hard to do everything alone, but

this community has been helping me so much.

06/28/2008 Married my husband

07/03/2008 Update my social security card

07/19/2008 AOS, EAD, AP mailed to Chicago lock box

07/21/2008 AOS, EAD, AP were received

07/28/2008 NOA1 for AOS, EAD, AP

08/04/2008 Biometric appointment letter arrived

08/15/2008 Biometric at Santa Ana office

10/21/2008 No update since biometric- contacted a local congressman, the ombudsman

10/22/2008 Was able to do service request

10/23/2008 EAD was approved

10/24/2008 AOS interview letter arrived

11/26/2008 Renew my State ID

12/10/2008 AOS interview approved right away

My husband's current employer has not been very steady when it comes to hours ever since the economy went down south. He's now looking into getting a different job somewhere else but until then it's my job as his wife to support him and show him that he's not alone and that we can get by with my salary. That always makes him feel better and is what's made a difference. I hope you're not alone in this because that's what's going to keep you afloat until you're able to find a better job. I'm sure it's still out there but it's just a matter of being patient.

I totally understand you. My husband works full time, but I just do not want to depend on him so much.

I started making some money and try to save as much as possible. I hate my current job, but I have to stick around

until the economy gets back:)

I am also thinking about taking some accounting and business classes at community college for my future career.

I cannot stand this customer service type job. I want to have finance type jobs in the future. So I will brush up some of my skills.

I don't earn a great deal an hour but enough. I am guarenteed 35-40hrs a week and I enjoy my job very much plus find it satisfying and rewarding, I know I'm one of the lucky few to have found a job like I have so fast. Was just a case of right place, right time for me.

11/13/2007 - NOA2...127days after filing (hard copy 11/17/07)

12/22/2007 - packet 3 rec. (12/28/2007 returned)

01/11/2008 - medical (allergic to tetanus shot, requirement waived)

02/05/2008 - interview @ 10am - APPROVED!!!!!!

03/12/2008 - Flying Glasgow - Dublin - Chicago - Omaha

05/31/2008 - WEDDING

AOS

07/31/2008 - AOS and EAD finally mailed

08/02/2008 - Delivered

08/08/2008 - Check cleared

08/11/2008 - NOA1's for AOS and EAD recieved (reciept date 08/07/2008)

10/03/2008 - AOS touched (probably that RFE coming soon!!!!)

In Dallas area, Illegal Aliens that stand on corners and do day labor get $9 per hour.

You need to get more agressive in looking for work, and don't accept a low paying job.

Plenty of jobs out there, you just have to find them.......
