I read there are recent new rules/regulations regarding this. I believe you can not bring any of those into the Embassy now. Cell phones I know for sure are a no now.

I am sure the question is regarding airport.

You can bring all that stuff via immigration if you want.

Laptops in USA are generally a lot cheaper to purchase and better quality.

if you meant upon entering the airport w/ gadgets, i think you should be fine. last month i brought my mac, 2 digital cameras (big and small), phone of course, video cam, lol... and it went fine. though it was a bit heavy in my part but its better than checking it in...

but if you meant bringing it in to the embassy, then i do believe you're not allowed to bring any of the electronics inside.

Cheaper in most cases. Quality? Is there a difference between an iPod sold in the US and elsewhere? :)

Seriously, airport officials are more concerned about pirated stuff. So as long as there are no pirated software and illegal MP3 downloads, you should be ok.

To the Philippines, there is restriction and heavy duty tax on some electronic devices other than for personal use. If you check them with your baggage, they use such a strong x-ray that it would probably destroy electronic devices. I know because it destroyed my satellite clock. So you have to bring them in your carry on luggage if you want to take a chance.

Laptops computers sold in USA are quite different than the ones sold in other countries. i Pod is not a laptop.

the Ipod is only an example. Just to show a point about gadgets being the same. Laptops are almost the same everywhere as long as you know where to buy them. Fact is, I know some Americans who buy their lappies in Asia (Manila, Singapore, Tokyo, HK) 'coz the high end ones are much cheaper. Point said. We're now going OT. L)

well i think its better to look where they're made than where they're bought... i have a mac for example. bought here in the US, works great etc..

its designed in the US (of course its an american company), BUT! its made and assembled in china lol... so does my iphone, its made in china (as most of the gadgets these days regardless its brand)... so the point is... go figure lol...

i could talk more but jose rizal is right, this is becoming more of an OT already (just couldnt resist though  )

Just to further expound on the OPs queries, gadgets as long as they are for personal use (meaning not in commercial quantities) and do not contain any illegal material are permissible.

PS my emphasis on not being in commercial quantities. Had known someone who brought in 10 cell phones. One for each family member including cousins. Was questioned by customs. Haha. Good thing the customs guys let him through. :)
