Sending Packet 3

I am planning to send Packet 3 after DOS confirms that my case has been received at Mumbai consulate. Prior to sending Packet 3, do I need to e-mail consulate and let them know that I would sending Packet 3 (this is because I would not be waiting to receive Packet 3 from them)?

In addition as far as DOS is concerned, can they tell me all the following?

- Case reached Mumbai

- Packet 3 received

- Interview date

- Packet 4 sent

siyaram, i am planning to do the samething, send packet 3 to mumbai consulate for 129F. Can you tell me what did you include in your packet 3? i think you can send your packet 3 once DOS confirms that they sent out packet 3...

Congratulaitns for getting your petiiton approved. MY I-129f & I-130 also got approved on Dec 13th. My quesiton is do we wait for Mumubai consulate to send Packet 3 or we fill out Packet 3 forms and send on our own. Thanks for your help.

In Packet 3, I included DS-230 Part I, 2 photos of beneficiary, DS-2001 Applicant readiness form, Checklist along with the form (last page of checklist), true copy of beneficiary's passport.

I believe waiting for confirmation from DOS that Packet 3 has been sent would be a safe approach. I am only concerned about a situation where consulate would take few days just to mail out Packet 3 - that would be unnecessary waiting.

If anyone who has sent Packet 3 proactively can confirm, we all could benefit from information.

thanks siyaram, i was reading the DS-2001 form and it says that return this form along with the DS-230 Part I. I didnt see where it asked for Checklist along with the form, copy of beneficiary's passport, 2 photos of beneficiary. I might be wrong but i just to confirm.

Guys,

On the instruction packet, what did you check off? I checked off the following:

Passport

Photos

Birth Certificate

Marriage Certificate

Proof of Relationship

Police Report

Affidavit of Support

Termination of previous marriage does not apply so i know I don't need to check that one. And Medical report remains unchecked because my wife can't do the medical without Packet 4.

What about Application Forms or Fees? Should those be checked at this time?

Also where should Packet 3 be couriered to?

I have the following, is it right?

waithatter - I do not have any updates I am planning to call DOS and wait until they tell me that Packet 3 has been sent by consulate. I think SankuNiku has waited for consulate to send packet 3 also.

Sanket - I have actually checked-off all items that are finally needed (including medical interview, fees, DS-156 etc). But now after reading your post, I am confused whether we are supposed to check those items or send the checklist without some of them as checked. I have searched on VJ but am not able to find specific info. I will wait for someone who has submitted Packet 3 to answer this.

The address is correct but I would take the "Consulate General" line out as the packet is not addressed to him personally but to consulate in general.

If someone can confirm the confusion regarding the checklist, we would appreciate that.

Sorry to confuse you Siyaram. I realize checking off all items should not be a probem, given that on interview day you should have all of these items ready. In the grand scheme of things we're probably making a big deal about what's checked and not checked, as the applicant statement you're attesting that you'll have whatever they need on the list, not whatever is checked. I decided to check off everything as well except the termination of marriage. Hopefully someone who's already submitted a packet 3 and received a response can comment to clarify doubts.

As far as what's going on with our case. The Consulate received our case on Monday and mailed out the Packet 3. So they are waiting for our response before they schedule an interview. It's going to be a pain getting them the package quickly with the holidays. The Indian postal service is closed on Xmas and the consulate is closed both Thurs and Fri. But I'm looking for the wife to courier the response package tomorrow so hopefully they get it on Friday and process it on Monday.

No worries Thanks for the update. In that case, I will also continue with all the items checked as well. I do agree that these holidays would postpone the case processing by few days. My case has reached NVC but not entered into the system. I am hoping that its entered into the system else I will have to wait till Monday as I am pretty sure that the work won't really happen on friday. Can't help the delays. Don't use the postal service to mail (you mentioned that its closed on xmas) - only use courier services as they provide more reliability Are you also staying on top of CR1? Let's keep in touch.

Yes...for CR-1 just waiting for the AOS and IV bills. I hope to get my hands on them Friday so I could pay them and hopefully send all the docs on Mon. Otherwise just focusing on the K-3 leg for now, hopefully the private courier services in India are operating tomorrow, I really hope so.

I called NVC today and they said they have already mailed out my K-3 petition to Mumbai Consulate. siyaram, you should talk to the operator at NVC regarding your case. Sankuniku and siyaram lets stay in touch since we all are going through the same process only few days apart.
