Received letter from NVC a month ago but nothing from embassy yet

I received a letter from the NVC saying that they would send the approved pettion to the consulate in Bogota within week, this was NOV 10, and that my fiance would soon get a packet with further instructions from the consular and how to apply the k1 visa at that post and what documents will be required. It is now Dec 21 and she hasnt received it yet. Is this usual? Is there anyway we can check out what is going on? Looking at other timelines it looks like the fiance usually receives the packet within a week or 2 or 3, maybe I just worry over nothing...

No, it's not unusual particularly during the holiday season when many Consulate staff take vacation time.

It is usual, and it depends on the country where your fiancee stays. For my case, we received a letter from NVC on May.5, which said the same content as yours, but I received the instructions from Guangzhou consulate on July.18 ( I am a Chinese). So just be patient and waiting.

Why worry about it, just call the DOS to confirm the embassy has the NVC package and then fax the information required preemptively. Follow the instructions in the Embassy section of this site.

Well I found out after calling the DOS today and they have not received the packet yet in Bogota. Turns out the NVC didnt mail it out until Dec 23 and that the one week they talk about in the letter is just a made up approximate time. Now i have to wait since it was sent out via DHL and with the holidays who knows how long it will take for it to reach Bogota . I thought this was supposed to be the faster part. Oh well more and more waiting...
