this may sound like a dumb question, but I don't want to make any mistakes. On part 2 of the form I-864 they ask for Information on the principal immigrant 1st and last name. since i will be sending this in after we are married do they want her new name or her maiden name?

Also in question 24 I am not sure which box to check. I will be her only support, so I think I check 24-e and fill in her name. not 100% sure though.

any help will be appreciated. thank you

Your I-864 will be dated after the marriage. Always use the "then current name" on forms. Caution: The name you use on the AOS forms is the name she'll have on her Green Card. If it's not the same as the name in her passport, you'll probably want to change the passport. This is not easy for a Chinese passport unless you live near a Chinese Consulate as they will now longer do it through the mail. Changing the passport name is not mandatory and neither is it mandatory to change a name at marriage but all international travel and ticketing must be done in the passport name. If she has Jones on the Green Card and Li on the Passport, Mr and Mrs. Jones will not be traveling. Mr Jones and Ms Li will be.

My wife didn't change her name, which was by far the easiest procedure. She doesn't mind a bit if people refer to her as Mrs. Pushbrk but it isn't her "name".

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

Google Who is Pushbrk?
