What's in a name?

I am restless and weary as I wait for the packet from the American Embassy. And to get rid of the doldrums, I contemplate and ponder numerous conceptions which are not necessarily related to immigration. I think of trivial matters in real life such as, among other things, names of some of my acquaintances.

I remember my Japanese lady friend, Kikiko Takayama, who once dated a Filipino named Elmer Mabanto. Now I wonder what would the lady's legal name be after they got married. There was also another Japanese girl whose name would be ritzy to Filipinos - Terry Nakaguchi.

My friends, do you know anyone who carries a name that is meaningful or ridiculous or awe-inspiring or humorous or some name that could be a topic of a comical conversation?

aka Señorita Tessa, Señora Bonita, Mariquita Linda, Muñequita Linda, Amor Perdido y Chaparrita Chula!

this name is not comical but rather suited to her skin per se. i have a classmate in grade 6, her name is jennifer puti-an, and true enough she's got fair skin and her hair is more of a brunette. though you can say she is a real filipina. maybe just a spanish descendants

and when i was a student assistant in our dept of student affairs, i encountered a lot of weird and odd last names...im just not gona mention what are those. out of respect...

Fittingly at this time of the year, I remember a classmate in high school named Felice Natividad. :star: :star: :star:

Reminds me of Mary Pascua, a classmate at UE. :star:

"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.

Ain't you never heard of ####### Trickle,, a NASCAR race driver in the 80's and now retired in his homestead in North Carolina?

Have you heard about those Filipinos who migrated to the US and then Americanized their names when they applied for citizenship? There was Carlito Moreno who became Charlie Brown. And Jaime Sastre who is now James Taylor.

Before Mother Spain gave them their current surname, the Marcos clan of my home province of Ilocos Norte was called Tabucboc. Hmm, Ferdinand Tabucboc... would history have been different?

How about my Filipino friend, Juan Salamanca, Jr., who changed his name to Magic Johnson? And his pal, Esteban Reyna, who became Steve McQueen.
