yes you can apply for an ssn two weeks after your arrival in the US. some states requires for you to have an ssn before you get married, some dont... i applied an ssn, then we applied for a marriage license after... good luck and God bless...

You can get SSN before getting married, check the guides for the step-by-step process: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...om&page=ssn

not all state requires SSN for marriage license application. I didn't have SSN (still don't have one) prior to getting married and we did not have problem getting marriage license and other wedding related stuffs. Just check with your local register of deeds for the requirements in your area, you can search for the state and county you are in, they usually have online info for all the requirements.

Good luck and God bless.

After 3 days I arrived, we went to SS office to aplly for my SSN and they entertain us well. I got my SSN after 1month I applied. Talking about the marriage requirement, when we applied for marriage license they asked my SSN and we just told the clerk that it is on process yet, no problem they give us marriage license.

You just tell the clerk that your SSN is still on process, you need that in filling up the details on the marriage license that you are going to return to the court.

Good luck & Best Wishes!!!

In Texas - the rules are "Social Security Card is required unless you aren't able to get one..." So in essence, you don't need one in Texas.

As stated - you can apply for a SS Card/Number (on a K1) about 10 days (or so) after you arrive in the US.

Claudeth applied for her SSN about two weeks after arriving and received it a week later. We got married at the county court house and they just looked at her birth certificate.
