Hi all! I know this banking question has been asked 100,000 times but I wanted to ask her at the UK forum and see what those who went through London had to share>

I went to my bank yesterday and the manager gave me what looks to be a screen shot showing the day I opened the account and the current amount in it. He didn't sign anything but it's obviously from the bank. My neighbor is actually the manager at another bank branch and I called her today to see if she would actually sign a proper/formal letter stating what the USCIS site asked for namely:

Date Account opened

Total amount deposited over the year

Present Balance

She said no problem EXCEPT giving the total amount deposited over the last year. THAT would require her pulling all my old statements out of archive. She said if i had all of mine I could add it up and she'd sign it. I don't have every single one, but I've got most and most of my deposit slips. Do you think if I have a ball park figure from that and she signs it (I won't be adding any amounts so I can't see where it would be wrong) that that would be ok.

OR has anyone been approved in London with simply a letter stating date account opened and present balance and a few months of actual statements?

Thanks for any help. I'm going to visit the man himself (hi honey (L) ) next Friday the 16th so if anyone is in the North watch out for the short girl in the Wings jersey...if you can help me out, track me down and I'll buy the first round :star:

Hi Joey,

I went through London, only had 6 months statements and a letter from the bank saying the date I opened my account. My bank wouldn't do an average balance or number of withdrawals/deposits, as they said, the statements show this clearly. I printed a balance on my way to the interview.

The guy wasn't even interested in the statements, but I told him he was taking them cos it took me ages to copy them all! He flicked through them quickly and nodded.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Thanks, Helen! I really appreciate that - it really helps!

One quick other question - if I take him bank statements next week with my note dated say June 15th and we're looking at an interview in july/august would that be too early? I'd just rather hand deliver it...

Thanks, Joey

If I were you, I would take them over with you, and then send on any further statements you get before the interview date. Ideally, if you bank online, your other half could print out a statement either on the day or the day before.

Good luck and have a good trip.

Ok, so if I sent a letter from the bank saying, "xxxx opened this account with us on DATE HERE and her current balance is XXXX". That would be sufficent? Because I've seen some forms saying you need just that some saying you also need total amount deposited but the bank says, 'that's what your bank statements are for figure it out yourself" and so I don't know what I'm supposed to be including because I get conflicting info....so i thought i'd just send the letter with the account opening date and the current balance and a few bank statements to try to appease them.

If anyone thinks it's a bad idea, let me know.

Thank you,

Joey

Yep Jay, I self sponsored and needed statements.

I know someone else posted around the time I had my interview and he'd made a spreadsheet of his income and withdrawals and printed it off.

I would send more than a few statements, the packet 3 says a years worth!
