Any airport that recieves international flights can process him. From that point he can connect to anywhere in the United States.

Sarah, I would say it really depends on what you are trying to do. If your FI wants a Temp Work Authoriztion then I would say have him come into JFK then continue on. If you dont want the work Autho then do the cheapest and quickest route.

Just my 2 cents

Also keep in mind that Atlanta is a more difficult POE than JFK, particularly for muslims. Although many people have gotten through without issue. I just thought you might like to know, all other things being equal.

well that is another issues is the work auth. does he have to have it to work here???

He will apply for work authorization after you get married and he adjusts his status. He can not work without it.

JFK issues temporary authorization that expires in 90 days from the day of entry. Many find that it is a waste of time because 99.9% of the time, there will be a gap between the expiration of the temporary authorization and the regular employment authorization approval.

well that is what I told him but I don't think he realises. Thank you I will tell him that JFK is the best choice. Also he does need to ask for a work auth. correct??

If he goes through JFK, he should get the temp work authorization stamp on his I-94 without having to ask. If he goes through Atlanta, they do not offer temp work authorization.

Sara,

Please make sure your FI brings the following documents:

Birth Certificate - Original with english translation

Police Certificate - Original with English Translation

Immuzation Records - Original with english translation

If he has gone to school and wish to go here, then get school transcripts with course descriptions and make sure there is an english translation for them.

this is all I can think of right now.

Kathy

I have a question about those translations- when you take them to the Consulate for the interview do they give them back? Should they make copies to bring with them here or will they get the originals back? Are copies acceptable here later on? Thankssss

I just talked to my travel agent, to get an idea on how to get Hachemi here to the USA, and the cost, especially during peak travel time. He told me he could get a oneway ticket from Algiers to Casa then to JFK for about 1000. dollars. He said just let him know when Hachemi has a visa in hand. I also looked on the Air Maroc website today and a flight from Casa to JFK one way is about 700 dollars. The trip from Algiers to Casa is about 300 dollars. So he is right on the cost.
