Who was it in the administration who claimed the other day that Abraham Lincoln and George Washington routinely engaged in electronic surveillance back in the day?

I imagine they had quite a time finding power outlets in the 17-18th century No bother, I'm sure they could just dash out to the 7/11 for batteries.

I just don't get this lot (GWB et al). They persistently refuse to answer the most basic questions about the policy, it just keeps coming down to 'trust us'. If you ask me, they haven't proven themselves to be very trustworthy IMO. The public has a right to know what the government is up to, the claim that it will 'tip-off' terrorists is frankly laughable.

Oh and they can also claim a degree of selective amnesia by totally sidestepping the reasoning why the FISA bill was passed in the first place...
