This wouldn't usually be an issue but the day I've been given the invitation for the oath ceremon happens to coincide with both a dentist and, later, doctor's appointment. Dentist can definitely be cancelled but may not be necessary. If the appointment is at 8.45 am ... how long would I reasonably be there?

Of course this could be a dumb question !!!

I think I would be rescheduling dentist and doctor.

If oath ceramony is 8:45, I suspect it will finish by lunch time noon.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

If your doctors' appointment is on one side of the country and your oath ceremony is on the other, that could pose a problem unless you have access to that Star Trek transporter thingy. If you are on your death bed, think I would keep the doctors appointment first, no sense in getting USC if you are dead.

LOL, too many unknown variables, is your oath ceremony for just a couple of people or 14,000? Another variable. So is the weather this time of the year.

All Oath ceremonies last different times, depends on the district, the number of people being sworn in that day etc. Some last from 1/2 hour to hours. Mine was 45 mins with 300 people. Other ones I've heard had 2 hour ceremonies. You probably won't know until it's over, but generally the more people there are the chances it'll be longer. If you are in a major city I would expect longer...

I would recommend to reschedule both to the other day.

Oath Ceremony itself will take about 10~20 min.

But as you already know, you can not predict how long it's gonna be for waiting to make that happen.

Waiting line to get into the building, and submitting your signed Oath Letter...

Depending on the number of people taking the oath at the ceremony, this waiting can be easily from one hour to a couple of hours.

Many thanks to all. Hubby is taking the day off ... dentist is cancelled ... doc was afternoon and important enough not to cancel anyway.

And it WILL be good to reach the end of this journey.

Good luck to all.
