Returning to finish school abroad after receiving provisional GC

My stepson, who is in the US on a K2 visa, wants to return to Ukraine to finish his college education after he receives his conditional GC. So he will be out of the country for about 2years attending college and would then like to return when it is necessary to remove conditions and receive the 10 year GC.

My question is simply will this work? Will he be jeopardizing his application for removal of conditions?

Will need to file an I-131 for a re-entry permit, but this is only good for trips lasting up to 2 years.

Unsure, it is rare that for Removal of Conditions to be interviewed, and for the most part the interview is to determine a Bona Fide marital relationship.

The interview letter would specify who needs to be present at the interview.
