hi there i just got an email saying our visa was approved

and we will receive a notice in the mail telling us what to do

so i was just wondering what happens now and how long it takes from

now until i have the visa in my hand

did you already have the interview? because it sounds like that email is for the NOA2?

The amount of time you will have to wait is highly dependent on the consulate you are dealing with. Sounds like you havent gotten to the interview yet, so thats your next step. Kill 'em with evidence. After the interview you'll wait on security checks (provided you are approved). Once that's done you'll get the magic call to come pick up the passport with the visa in it.
