The US embassy in Islamabad is an entity unto itself. Those who say things like, "From my experience with our embassy, they will not take you passport if you were not approved. It most likley is approved, but they alone know how they do their work!!!!!!" and "t sounds like an approval to me kicking.gif If they are anything like the other embassies I have read on these forums, their timeframes are never correct. It is in general, which just means it could be longer, it could be shorter. BUT it still sounds like an approval. Congrats on the new baby" I have seen these embassies keep the passport for over a year and not issue the visa. Your husband should not have given them his passport. You should call the department of state at (202) 663-1225 to find out what you can about the case. Some of the representatives are more helpful than others so you may need to call a few times to get the information you need.

Good questions include, "What is pending against my case?" "Has this been sent to Washington?" "When was the last update" and others

It sounds like he may be with you and the baby soon! Don't worry Nessie my friend's husbansd's AP was only for 4 weeks so he may be home with you soon. Good thing he told her about the baby. We will pray for you! Good luck and keep us posted on the DC thread.

but I don't get why they kept his passport?!?!?!?!?!?!

They kept his passport so when they are done the AP, they can put the Visa in it. In your country when AP is done the call the beneficiary to tell him AP is done/complete and he can come pick up his Passport/Visa.

In my husband's country they do not take the Visa, because they call for a 2nd interview, which left us still hanging on and wondering. So I would feel confident that they took his passport.

Keeping his passport is a good thing.

So sorry to hear this. It is cruel and unfair for the US government to separate families.

US government do not separate our type of families. We chose to create a family or choose a love one with someone who is not a resident of the us. If you think the separation is cruel, then you created this "cruel" situation.

What the heck do we pay taxes for?

We are going through a process that is used to protect the United States from fraud & terrorist. Although the process is not perfect or efficient, it has a purpose.

I was not happy my husband was put on AP, but I am grateful that the Embassy did their homework to prevent someone from defrauding the US or me. Just think... If I dated someone from the US I could have never had such a back round check.

Lets not make the proces any worse then it already is.
