OK which is it J-1 or K-1??? You first say you came with a K-1, then you say J-1. Your timeline indicates K-1.

Question #11 is self explanatory, YES if you have filed an I-765 before, and NO if you have NOT filed an I-765 before.

Question #16 gives people the most problems.

(c )(9 ) is based on the pending I-485 and is part of the $1010 paid for the I-485.

(a )(6 ) is based on the K-1 and pays $340 and the EAD expires 90 days after entry to the USA.

K-1 should NEVER file for an EAD based on the K-1 visa, the processing time (90 days) guarantees that the EAD will be denied, or expire within days of it being issued. A tremendous waste of $340.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Lat year I came with J1....and as my timeline shows I came now with k1(for almost months).....

Thank you for the information and for promptitude!I will pay more attention next time I ask questions. And when I came with j1...I applied for ssn(that implies that my sponsorship applies for a work permit in my name?)or I had a ssn and the j1-visa that allowed me to work??Not a work permit?

While in the USA on the J-1 did you file an I-765 for work auth, if yes, then question 11 is Yes.

The work auth tends to be for 1 year, again apply for work auth this time based on pending I-485.

You have SSN so that is one less thing for you to apply for, later when you do get a green-card, apply for a replacement SSN with the "DHS" disclaimer removed.
