I am freaking out, it's been 2 weeks since my case was complete at NVC but i have not received anything yet. Do you guys know how long it takes for them to send me a interview letter or something and how long it takes for the paperwork to arrive at the embassy?

Timeline:

filed I-130: 2007/10/10 (child under 21 unmarried of a USC) "IR2"

uscis sends NOA: 2007/10/22

21st b-day: 2008/**/** (well that sucks)

I-130 approval notice: 2008/06/15 (was approved due to CHILD STATUS PROTECTION ACT, signed by Pres. Bush on August 6,2002)

case forwarded to NVC: 2008/06/16

biometrics bill received: 2008/07/13

biometrics bill paid: 2008/07/15

IV bill received: 2008/07/27

affidavit of support request received: 2008/08/02

affidavit of support request sent: 2008/09/20

IV bill paid: 2008/09/20

DS-230 request received: 2008/10/01

DS-230 request sent via express mail: 2008/11/20 (had to wait a loooong time for police certificates)

Medical Exam: 2008/11/25 (passed no problems of course!)

NVC receives DS-230 package: 2008/11/29

CASE COMPLETE!! : 2008/12/09 (no RFE)

case forwarded to embassy in Rio de Janeiro-Brazil: 2009/01/08

interview date and time: 2009/02/02 at 7:45am

I'm not sure of the exact time for Brazil.. some consulates take much longer (like mine, Guangzhou China takes about 4 months).. don't worry though.. that shouldn't be your time.. usually about a month's time I think.. Also, you can check other people from Brazil on Visajourney and see their timeline.. :star:

The NVC schedules interviews with the embassies during the first two weeks of the month for the following month. If yours was completed two weeks ago, then they won't probably start scheduling your interview until the first two weeks of January for an appointment in February. Call the NVC and try to get through to an agent to verify this info though.

What type of visa did you apply for?

NVC schedules interviews for CR-1/IR-1

I think Guangzhao is an exception to this.

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Hi, I was freaking out too, because my case was completed in nov 26th, and I didnt receive any app letter (inrterview) so far, but my husband and my attorney in US already did. So, I communicated with US Consulate in RJ asking about it, especially because NVC told me the interview date was schedduled for januray 9th, and they said that I should not be worry about receiving or not the letter, because It was just an instruction letter and the same info I could get through the embassy´s website.

I guess, first thing you should do is call NVC and get interview date.

For the I-129F petition (K-1 and K-3) it took about a month to receive something from the Consulate in Rio de Janeiro. For the I-130 petition, I received documentation in about 1 week for the appointment letter but 2 weeks to say that our file was complete (weird). Anyways the info was pointless because my spouse received the info from the consulate very quickly so I already knew what was happening.

March 7, 2008 - Married

March 19, 2008 - I-130 Sent

March 20, 2008 - I-130 Delivered in Chicago, IL 60680 @ 2:44pm; Signed for by V Bustamante

March 26, 2008 - I-130 NOA1

April 2, 2008 - I-129F Sent

April 3, 2008 - I-129F Delivered in Saint Albans, VT 05479 @ 12:05pm; Signed for by P Novak
